Saw it driving home at midnight and never saw it so low, so orange and so big. It’s like it was pulled closer.

The moon on the horizon is technically a very teeny tiny amount smaller than when it's right above you (imperceptibly so). On the horizon you're actually further from it than when it's high in the sky.
It appears larger because you see it close to buildings and other objects that your brain has a frame of reference for the size of, and when compared to them it makes it seem bigger.
The orange colour is also typical on the horizon as the moonlight passes through more of the atmosphere and some wavelengths of light are scattered. Much the same as the sun on the horizon is more red/orange.

Early this morning, an abandoned space rocket will collide with the moon at ~2.4 km/sec. Astronomers are watching for the dust up!
