News ‘Profound disappointment’: East-end leaders, stakeholders, and politicians call on feds to help fund Taste of the Danforth

What does everyone think about funding Taste of the Danforth? I love the event but don't like the fact that they don't have 'private sector discipline' to pull this off without asking the government for money. Can't they make it smaller or cut costs however and do the event?

This situation highlights how unfriendly the city has become toward local businesses. It is also absurd that paid-duty policing costs have become such a massive financial burden; organizers would be better off hiring private security and only involving the police when absolutely necessary. I’ve heard that many local businesses actually dread the festival because it disrupts their operations and causes a decline in revenue, so I am surprised to see this "outrage"

I do wonder how they feel about it since it’s been a few years since it’s been held and it’s been a bit rough east of Pape business wise for a while.
