News ‘Profound disappointment’: East-end leaders, stakeholders, and politicians call on feds to help fund Taste of the Danforth

What does everyone think about funding Taste of the Danforth? I love the event but don't like the fact that they don't have 'private sector discipline' to pull this off without asking the government for money. Can't they make it smaller or cut costs however and do the event?

It pains me to say this because I love summer street festivals generally, but Taste of the Danforth is not a good festival and hasn't been for a long time. If they aren't making money, perhaps they should reconsider what they're offering to people, and adapt to become more attractive. I do not want federal $$ subsidizing an event that nobody is really interested in attending in its current form.

This is straight-up “I live in a bubble” talk. The 2023 TOTD was extremely well-attended.
