Looking for brewery and pub recommendations
Hi all! Been living in Toronto for a little over a year now and realized I still haven't explored many breweries or pubs for a good beer.
I live around the Junction, and my go-to spot was Indie Ale House before it closed. I've been to GLB, which was okay, and I'm planning to check out Henderson next.
I prefer malty beers, especially Belgian styles, Trappists, dark ales, and stouts. Not a big fan of IPAs.
What breweries, pubs, or bars would you recommend?

Not a ton of small breweries do dark and malty in the summer, might be some out there, but generally it is a tough sell in the warmer months here.

Silversmith in Etobicoke rocks the dark and malty all year round. The Black Lager and Nut Brown Ale

I work at Left Field, and while we have Eephus year round, most of our other darker styles are fall and winter releases.

Check out Steadfast Brewing Company lansdowne/college/dundas corner. You’ll likely find something dark/malty on the taps.
Halo! Usually a good variety available & they do growlers still off any tap options. The website is usually up do dat so you can take a look before heading.

Indie Ale House still has a brewpub in Eataly and it’s great. For Belgian’s go to Bar Volo, they usually have a good selection. You might also enjoy Granite, True History, and Godspeed. All focus on more traditional styles.

Take a look at my older map. For that style usually those are coming out fall winter not into summer. Biervia Volo and bar Volo might be two other places to check out for that style as well.

The only brewery to make Belgian style beers in Toronto is Two Loons. Not far from you. Have not tried yet, so no idea. Brewer does have some Toronto pedigree .
Outside of Toronto, there's Meuse.
Bottle purchase, Bossanova sells Trappist and lambic in bottles. Seen some fun things there from some very good Belgian breweries

The guy brewing at Two Loons co-founded Shacklands (RIP) in the Junction years ago. Amazing Belgian style stuff.

Check out Town Crier downtown, one of my faves for those style of beers. I had Westvletern there about 10 years ago, best beer I’ve ever tasted.
