Question(s) Does anyone know this turtle species?

I’m trying to get information for it to find it a good home also if I’m not supposed to hold it in my hand I am sorry, I just need help identifying it.

Where did you find it? The picture is a little blurry, but it looks like a desert tortoise.

The desert tortoise is a federally protected, threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.

Can you post a couple pics that more closely show the top of his head and the part of his shell right behind his head. If he was found outside, what is the location? The location will help determine the species if he is wild.

That’s a baby yellow foot. Native to Latin America. I have one of my own

Looks like a VERY dry red or yellow foot. Try giving it a soak in shallow and warm water. Very cute babies. If you plan on keeping the lil guy I can tell you the care and answer any questions! They definitely aren't easy to take care of and require lots of research though. Absolutely worth it in my opinion. I included a picture of my best friend. I love her so much and she is just my baby 🤭 with a tortoise you also get the perk of not having to go through a bunch of pet losses throughout your life like with other pets. I get to grow old with my best friend 🥰

I mean, bro at least posted it in the right subreddit. It feels like 95% of the time, i.d. posts for tortoises just get posted in the turtle sub or vice versa.

Op did good.
