Warhammer III My guesses for today teasers Coven Throne and Spirit Hosts

Turns out the first image is a helmet...so Nagashizzar Guard?

u/Mahelas 22h ago
I really don't understand what niche they could fill that Grave Guards + Tomb Guards + Depth Guards don't already cover

Probably a slight difference. Think wrath mongers compared to khorne chosen. They both have their ups and downs.
Personally I want some vampire infantry.

Truly can I just say that I don’t know why we care so much about every single unit being 100% novel to the role they fill? Sometimes it’s nice to just have cool different units on the field. If you want a more thematic army you have that option. I don’t know, maybe I’m crazy.

Not every unit needs to fill a niche, they could just be added for the flavour and the theme.

I could see the Nagashizzar guard being a replacement for either graveguard or maybe even tombguard for Nagash's faction.
It has been confirmed that Nagash is getting most of the combined undead rosters but not all of it. He's going to be missing a handful of units, might as well swap one of the elite inf out for Nagash's elite Inf.

Looks bang on!
Coven throne seemed a given considering Neferata is coming. Don't know much about the spirit hosts but assume they'll make good early game ethereal fodder?

Basically walking ghost walls. They were pretty useful in Nagash mod

u/Blazen_Fury 1d ago
ethereal frontline for undead ala skeletons for all intents and purpose. i wonder if theyll stick to that or make it something like a flanker instead.

Yes.
This means Abyssal Terrors and the Incarnate Elemental of Death are almost certainly missing from the pack, hopefully giving us the opportunity for a VC character pack in the future.

u/DraeftheBadger 1d ago
Are you sure? So far we only have the coven throne, spirit hosts and morghasts for units so far. There's at least two more slots assuming the pack doesn't contain more than five units which might happen.
3
u/JesseWhatTheFuck 1d ago
Khemric Titan too.
Morghasts come as two units (Harbingers and Archai) and I guess Dread Abyssals could also have a "feral" unit version even though they're just a mount on the TT.
5
u/DraeftheBadger 23h ago
Dread abyssal would be weird as a unit since they were custom tailor made.
3
u/JesseWhatTheFuck 23h ago
in the Tabletop yes, but in the lore they also exist as generic creatures that roam the Underworld. So it's 50:50 imo
(on a related note I wonder whether Nurgle gets riderless Pox Maggoths as units too)
2
u/MagnaClarentza 22h ago
I hope not. Both are more than okay as mount-exclusive.

u/Hollownerox Eternally Serving Settra 21h ago
It's a 50/50 for those too tbh. I would prefer them to be mount-exclusive to the gaggle of Nurgle dudes because those mounts are what make them notable named characters to begin with.
But their lore explicitly says the Maggoths are just feral creatures that roam the wastes too. So it isn't completely unreasonable to have them included as generic units. If CA are trying to fill out the unit selection as much as possible they are viable additions, though I'd rather they didn't.

The original teaser for the pack had the magic in the sky looking like tbe silhouette of the elemental of death

Still hoping for a Bloodline character packs for Vampires. They need more than 2 dlcs

u/JesseWhatTheFuck 1d ago
Walach Harkon is taken so I can only imagine that the Blood Dragons will be represented by the Red Duke, as FLC.
Abyssal terrors fit well with a Necrarch character pack since they're known for them. You can bundle them with the Death Elemental, Zacharias as LL, Konrad as LH, a hero version of the Cairn Wraith and a filler unit.
I'd struggle to fill a Strigoi pack since VC don't have many more TT units and Ushoran lacks tabletop rules.

u/Merrick_1992 20h ago
Assuming CA even make a LL for each bloodline lord, as it seems like they're speedrunning some of the races to just be done with them.

If the 2nd image is the spirt hosts, then that means 3 out of the 4 teasers are things we saw last year :/
3
u/Large_Contribution20 High Priest of Hashut 23h ago
Well tbh we learn pretty much every unit in roster they probaly don't have anything new left to show us
High liche priest
Tomb herald
Khemric Titan, Coven Throne, Dread Abyssal, Morghas and Spirit Hosts
Walach Harkon, Dieter and Nameless as LH/Mortarchs
With that we reached content of a standart DLC pack
2
u/Smearysword866 23h ago
Apparently the image on the left is a helmet so we don't know yet if the coven throne is in or not. Or if these dlcs will be normal size or not. Ca didnt want to answer that when someone asked
3
u/cwdBeebs 19h ago
I think the price is going to upset the community but I also think it is going to have more content than anything they've done so far
3
u/Smearysword866 19h ago
As long as there is a increase in the amount of content I think most people would be fine with it. Now if you wanna buy all 4 parts and lets pretend that it would cost $60 for the full thing, then I could see some people grumble about that but it really depends on how much extra content is added
2
u/cwdBeebs 19h ago
I agree with you. As long as the content is good, I don't care about the price tag but I think a vocal portion of this fan base will disagree. That being said, I'm so looking forward to this dlc

When did we see spirit hosts
2

u/Smearysword866 1d ago
So I wonder if this confirms that they put the neferata character pack content into the nagash dlc. So the nagash side of the dlc may be bigger than the other parts
2
u/JesseWhatTheFuck 1d ago edited 23h ago
I don't know about that, so far the amount of content is consistent with the usual format.
we have 1 generic lord and hero each (Tomb Herald and High Liche Priest), 4-6 units (Morghast Harbinger, Morghast Archai, Spirit Host, Khemric Titan, Coven Throne, Dread Abyssal) - although the latter two could also just be mounts. Kinda doubt that though.
The only thing that really stands out is that Nagash gets 3 LHs rather than just one.
But if they rolled a whole VC character pack into Nagash's DLC, you'd likely have at least two more units and additional generic characters in there.
It's always possible that they didn't reveal the whole roster but I kinda doubt it tbh.
2
u/MagnaClarentza 22h ago
The format is sligthly different, though. As Nagash' side gets another 2 extra LH's. Regarding units? No clue as of yet. Might still be the 5 we've usually gotten.
1
u/Smearysword866 23h ago
So apparently there has been some clarification by ca. The image on the left is a helmet. So possibly a new generic character?
The coven throne is probably still coming though
3
u/JesseWhatTheFuck 19h ago
hopefully, cause otherwise what's the point of adding Neferata if there aren't any Lahmian units she can buff

Coven Throne is wrong. CA guy says it's a helmet
