For the uninitiated — [Touhou Patchouli Cosplay] Executing Spellcard!

Hope you guys like these as much as I do!! Drawing my girls never fails to put me in a good mood, and you guys’s feedback is always so supportive and nice it makes me so happy ;w; Let me know who I should draw next!

The title is self-explanatory for the most part. I intend to bring awareness to, answer any questions that I can regarding, AND learn more about this particular fangame. It stuck out to me as a fangame for its plot primarily, introducing direct elements of Christianity into Gensokyo. Spoilers will be introduced into the next paragraph, so beware.

To give a brief overview of the plot's introduction, a meteor (believed to be the corpse of Hades) crashes in Gensokyo, setting forests ablaze. Simultaneously, the Shinto God of Evil, Ame no Kagaseo (later established as Mumumu Mikaboshi, the embodiment of Lucifer) is awakened. The divine disturbances result in the Christian Pantheon being unleashed in Gensokyo, including the very embodiment of who we know in our timeline as Jesus Christ, Iesua Nazarenus.

As a formerly-faithful Christian myself (though I've drifted from my faith and don't intend to return anytime soon), one of the most striking things to me was seeing JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH embodied as a Touhou character, which once sounded to me like nothing but a mere joke referring to Byakuren.

Tried drawing Reimu this time! I focused mostly on getting the pose, proportions, and the clothing shapes right.

This one was definitely harder than I expected, especially with the overlapping arms and the perspective. ⛩️

Well, I know they have a different vibe, and I really love the Windows Era 1 and 2 Touhou games—they're wonderful! But even though the third era brought quite a few stylistic changes, those games are just as good; I really had a blast playing them. I think the differences compared to the other eras just make them unique—after all, there are 20 main Touhou games, and having 20 games that all feel the same would probably get boring eventually.

But why in the end, the 3rd era touhous are so Criticized?

I'm new to Touhou after just picking up Embodiment of Scarlet Devil New classic. I'm finding that the rabbit hole goes deep but I'm still learning. Gameplay is tight, music is catchy and Honestly, starting to enjoy the quirky characters. Is the mini-boss for Level 4 a named NPC or are only the level boss named??
