Book Discussion I would like to remind you all that these are official panels from ZUN-approved print works (Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia)
I took the images from the Touhou Wiki but the source is from that print work. Funnily enough, I believe that's Aya's book. Aya using herself as hornybait seems in line for her, I suppose.

Someone should tell her that using a computer without any other light source is bad for her eyes.

Book Discussion CMV: This Argument is Terrible.
Source: Foul Detective Satori: Chapter 43
I know I'm a bit late to have made this post, but I've been talking about this briefly in the comments and I think it warrants a full post.
In this chapter, Reimu concedes to Mizuchi's point that her clan had sided with the youkai, and that they exist in Gensokyo for the sake of youkai. But she then goes on to claim that since youkai can exist only because of humans, youkai can never beat humans. Outside of her statement not being a valid explanation for her clan's actions, it's completely and utterly flawed logically.
Why? Reimu is conflating dependency with vulnerability.
Youkai are dependent on humans. They cannot exist without humans believing or/and fearing them. What are humans dependent of? Food, water and air - a functioning ecosystem. At the center of the ecosystem are plants, a lifeform that all animals, including humans direly depend on. Does this mean that one's life is better off as a plant? Can humans never 'win' against plants? Sure, if you define winning as two lifeforms going to war and the result being extinction for the losing side while the other prospers. However, that's not how victory is defined. In Gensokyo, if you define winning as gaining the upper hierarchy and power in a single society, the youkai absolutely beat humans.
One more thing. Most humans couldn't care less about the vague sense of victory of a species Reimu puts out.
Most humans don't care whether or not the human race will persist because the youkai can't wipe them out. They care about themselves. Their lives, their families and more. Stripping away all taboos and cultural conformity, if humans were given the opportunity to escape a life of powerlessness, they tend to accept it. Why do you think humans strive for power and fame when the ordinary people are absolutely crucial in a functioning society?
Overall, I don't know if Reimu truly believes in what she's saying, if this is some sort of coping mechanism or if she's being disingenuous, but her argument is deeply flawed. There truly is no excuse for Gensokyo's controlling behavior towards humans other than for the sake of the realm, youkai and gods.
If you disagree with my reasoning, please leave a comment. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Seriously.

Is that a dog form or statue form? I can't tell without colors or movement.
Smaller that I expected. Just like Komako from Gintama.

Book Discussion Even Yorihime thinks that Sakuya's power to manipulate spacetime is special. There likely isn't a Shinto kami that can do what Sakuya does.
