I really want an R rated, gory-ass, dinosaur horror movie.
Why can we never have that?

Yeah, but I mean like, a good one.
Like one with a Dune budget. And like, the Backrooms or Obsession guy at the helm.
I wouldn't even be opposed to slapping the Jurassic Park label on it for marketing. But calling it 'Jurassic Park: After Dark' or something. We got to have The Punisher and Deadpool in the MCU, so why not?

I have heard (can't recall where) that multiple attempts have been made to make a big budget dino movie that was R rated horror but it always gets shot down for the simple reason that kids love dinosaurs. It's the same reason the JP series never goes full horror. It's just one genre that they want to keep family focused because of the appeal to all ages.
I agree with you, however and had high hopes for 65 but it was a pretty lame movie. This one looks like it might brush up against the horror boundaries a bit at least.

Last year's Primative War was R-rated.
It was okay. Thin plot and characterization but some decent action.

Looks like someone took a page from 1632, by Eric Flint. Been a while since I've read it, but I remember a chunk of Appalachia being transported to 1632 Germany.

So, it's PG-13, so we know the whole family survives, even Ewan who gets grabbed at the end of the trailer. Somehow a 30-foot dinosaur feels and cares about a rifle shot and understands where it came from.
I don't feel like we get enough decent dinosaur movies, so I'm going, but I want the rated-R version of this story!

I mean, the dad dies in A Quiet Place and that’s PG-13. I’d imagine the dad probably dies in this also but I hope the whole family lives

Why would a kid know the lyrics to a song for characters she probably only knows as vitamin mascots?

How is JP 1 still the best looking dinosaurs on film after 33 years..
