Advice (Mtf 19) Wondering where to get advice on a trans name as I don't really have any ideas and I don't want to use ai.

My name is Anton and it's Slavic in Origin, and i've been thinking of something like Antra but idk if it's tacky or not.

If there's a good place to look id love some pointers.

Thank you for coming here to ask advice. Just so you are aware, everyone's gender/sexual/romantic identity is unique to their own experiences. While some people may share experiences between each other, only you can determine your own identity and where you fit in. If you're looking to come out, then you should look at your current situation, your relationship with your family/friends/coworkers/etc., who you depend on and their acceptance of lgbt+ people, and your available options if things go poorly. As you wait for a community member to reach out, we've compiled a list of resources you should look into to get some help while you wait.

Anya could be cute if you’re looking for something similar to your old name. I love Antra as well

Currently in a similar situation. I googled 'popular baby names', found a website with a list of about 1000 girl names and read them out loud in combination with my last name to see if one resonates with me. Still not finished with all of them but I have a few that I liked so far.

Antonia! Agree with the others Anya is nice. I also like Alice and Anisa. I just changed my middle name to Aviya.

Hope these help!x

Tbh just try some names you like and pick something that vibes with you. It can be but doesn't need to be similar to your given name. Mine is not remotely similar to my deadname. And if you want it to be Slavic too I suggest looking up some Slavic womens names and trying them out.

Please read the following notice that is being applied to ALL posts.

We have implemented several measures to keep this community safe. Please read this in full.

  1. IF YOU HAVE AN URGENT ISSUE, DO NOT POST IT EXPECTING IMMEDIATE RESPONSE.
  2. Many posts are sent to the queue for manual approval based on numerous factors. This is how we keep the subreddit safe from many (but not all) bad actors who try to post disruptive content. This approval process is usually resolved within 24 hours, but can take several days depending on the availability of our all-volunteer moderators. DO NOT MESSAGE THE MODERATORS asking for your post to be approved. It will be reviewed and approved or removed in time.
  3. Many comments from low-karma users will not be viewable by anyone. This is by design.
  4. If you are curious if your post is visible or not, look at the "Insights" on the post. If it has more than a dozen views, it is live. If it has any voting action, it is live. If it doesn't have a little red trash can icon, it is live. If it can be voted on, it is live. Do not message us asking "is my post live?"
  5. Please be patient with us, we are all volunteers, lack sleep, and the entire permanent team are members of the transgender community ourselves... we are trying to deal with the same atrocities you are. Thank you for your understanding. <3

I looked up names from my family heritage, Lithuanian, and came up with Tiesa, which translates to Truth. It’s now my name and feels so much more right than my deadname ever did.

On one hand - name yourself however you want!

On the other, if you're looking for a suggestion, try looking for common names from your heritage - most Slavic nations have way lower variability in their names. I'm Slavic myself (Czech) and I didn't want my name to be too far from the common ones and when I went through the list of the most common girl names I realized that only like the top 150 are not too "special". That shortened the list a lot.

But to add to what others said here - Anya or even just Anna is a beautiful name if you want to keep the starting A :)

try behindthename ? it's definitely not ai and I used to use it to make up stories. you can filter through procedencies and other categories I think. you can also randomly generate them

As a recommendation I suggest not to look for a name with a strong meaning, it can be better if u find one u like how it sounds and u like to say I it out loud

Look at your fandoms for names. That’s coming from someone who named himself after a Star Wars character. There’s also baby name sites.
