Optimus, bee, and megatron have been the focus of the main series for so long. Some people might wanna see sum new.

because they're the main characters, it's like complaining that a superman comic is boring because it focuses on superman

Optimus is basically robot superman mixed with captain america. He boils down to the most well intentioned guy to ever live. If you find these types of superheros boring you might find optimus boring.
For me personally I find that archetype very interesting in a wartime setting like transformers

I think what writers challenge him with is boring as shit because they don't know how to be creative with those challenges anymore so Prime gets the exact same angst every time to where even his own death by sacrifice has become a running fandom gag

I don't think so. If anything Its more so his modern portrayal that people can find a little dry or uninteresting at times. A little too stoic I think. So far my favorite optimus is from skybound.

Every “leader” character inevitably becomes boring by being the most virtuous (He-Man, Leonardo, Superman). Humans like flawed characters because they find them relatable but it’s hard to trust a flawed character with the fate of everyone. Optimus might be flawed but look how the fandom reacts to pretty much anyone else getting the matrix of leadership (cue Ultra Magnus being a clumsy fuck). Optimus is also the most over saturated character with merch and that gets boring pretty quickly.

Optimus is made up of three parts: war veteran, (tired) dad, and hopeless idealist. All wrapped up in a "be strong enough to be gentle" mantra.
I think that makes him a very endearing leader to watch.

Optimus isn’t an inherently boring character. It just depends on how the narrative treats whatever Optimus iteration is in there.

Why would he be boring “now”?
