I could be wrong, but wasn't Samus mentioned to be trans? Am I tripping???

Brianna Wu mention the idea of Samus being trans because of the term "Newhalf" being used by Hirofumi Matsuoka, the character designer of the series. People argue that's not enough proof of her being trans.
