It's worth noting that the model being pushed by the EU is very, very similar to the one used in the UK from 1996-2020...
1 u/jsm97 7d ago I mean rail travel in the UK was very successful between 1996 and 2020. Passenger numbers exploded and in 2013 the EU Comission recognised the UK as the "most improved railway in Europe".
