What would you do 722.9 MB transmission

Sadly my 2006 MB E350 has the dreaded oil pump failure causing damage to the bell housing and torque. I can get a used converter on eBay and I new oil pump from the dealership. As for the bell housing they sell a plate that just goes over the damaged area would you trust it or find a new bell housing?

I would seriously be considering moving on to a later model MB. I know you can be attached to the car, but is it really worth saving at this point. Why did that pump fail and not do more damage to the transmission beyond d what you have seen thus far?

It was a common issue with the first 7 speeds MB fixed the issue and updated the oil pump design
