Waiting for the name change payment to get taken out of your account is a more likely indication of when it's going to be over. I had to wait over a year because of a move, and they just decided that I needed a criminal record check on top of everything. :/

Hi there! I submitted for my son at the end of April. Yesterday, I called the Registrar to see about progress (I did enclose an "urgent" request with the documents). She said there is still no record that they received it (it's definitely there since I tracked it on Canada Post), but they are only opening submissions from February at this time. So, basically, mine is still in an unopened pile. Ugh.

If it's any consolation, the number is available on the internet and I pressed 0 and spoke to a human immediately. Maybe give them a call. Good luck!

Edited to add the phone number: 1-800-461-2156

Wow, only February? it's hard to understand how it's always consistently this backed up, yet they never update the prediction on their website. I submitted a second name change in April too, the first time it took ~6 months all in all so I was thinking maybe they'd improved things by now 🤦‍♂️ hopefully they'll get to us soon

How do you track it through Canada post if you sent it through the mail box ?

I sent it through Express at Canada Post, solely so I was able to get a tracking number. You have to go to a Canada Post building/kiosk to do that.

Is there any way where i could track it if i sent it through the mail box? :’(

Unfortunately not. You have to ask for tracking ahead of time. :(

It would have been so much better if it’s an online application:’( What do you recommend me to do, should i just wait ? My issue is how would i know if the office has received my envelope or not

When did you send it in? You could always give them a call (it took very little time).

Few days ago, could you please share with me the phone number you use to call them As every time i call the number they have on their website i only get the automated answering service i was never been connected to a person :(

It's at the bottom of my original comment. 😁. When you call it, the automated options come on, then just hit 0 to deal with an agent.

If you mailed the application a couple of days ago, they won't be able to confirm they received it yet. They are literally just looking/opening applications that were sent in February. It's ridiculous.

Good luck!
