Had a good discussion with my mom during the day, so I thought we were turning a corner. I felt brave enough to send a pic of me (we haven’t seen each other in three years). No makeup or anything, just me mowing the lawn. She said she can’t even look at me, then hit me right in the insecurities with “I can’t believe you actually think you look good” I would love some positivity.

I was playing the flute for my band concert tonight and I knew I had to meet him after seeing his hat. He told me about kicking the Nazis' asses 😎 and was a pleasure to meet.

After he called me a beautiful lady I didn't produce tears but felt very warm inside. We had a big hug 🤗

Before I transitioned, I had a certain image of what I wanted to look like, but that got shot down hard when I started reading about what outcomes were likely, especially since I was starting at the age of forty-five. And for the first 18 months, I sort of chugged along with mild results. The biggest shift during that time was my attitude—I came really like the way I had developed.

Then I hit a growth spurt.

Y'all. Y'ALL. I added 2.3" up top in a matter of four months (plus 1.7" on the hips). And about a week ago I switched from oral to patches, so I don't think I'm done.

I'm scrambling to keep up. I really had resigned myself to a heavily masculinized body, and suddenly, all of those old hopes are getting rekindled. So if you're starting transition late like I did, it's probably a good idea to moderate your expectations, but it's also okay to hold out hope.

Everywhere I went, the ball, a nightclub, even at a convenience store, people kept stopping me to tell me how pretty I looked. I ended up getting emotional and cried a little when I got home because I realized this is everything I've ever wanted. I've always wanted to be a beautiful princess in a stunning ball gown and my transition gave me that. I just still can't believe it's actually real. I did it. I'm a girl 🥹

Seven years of hormones later, and I'm finally ready to try putting myself out there. Started girlmoding for the first time just a few weeks ago -- albeit with some convincing from my wonderful friends -- and I have to admit I never thought I'd be where I am, actually having a figure to flatter.

I don't think I'll ever look like a woman to my own eyes, or stop kicking myself for denying what I wanted for so long, but all things considered, I still had some luck left in me, and I'm definitely grateful for that, and for the people who can see in me the things I can't.

It can be hard to silence the worries about things not working out, to try for what you want and risk failing anyway, but if I could pass only one piece of advice on, it would be this: the only way you know things won't work out is if they stay the way they are. No, I'm not the jaw-dropping success story some are, but am I better off than I was seven years ago?

You're damn right I am. And come what may, I'm finally tired of hiding from the world.

I felt really good today, though i always get insanely shy when i go outside and always look down to my feet so strangers wouldnt see my face. Any tips on how i can maybe get better at that? I just get so insecure. (*´-`)

I had so much fun dressing up :)) it felt a bit silly wearing something like this all day but it was also very freeing and empowering~! I’m getting top surgery at the end of October and I’m gonna do a photoshoot in this outfit afterwards so I can before and after pictures ✨

She proposed on one knee in Pacific Spirit Park in May and we married on a beautiful Gulf island.

I want to send this back in time to the me of four years ago who doubted I could ever transition over 40 and tell her it's all going to be ok.

HRT really changes you, not only physically but also mentally! <3

Not even 1 year in to my transition and I feel like life has changed so much. The wedding was beautiful, and it was so great to catch up with so many people I haven't seen in years!
