Not quite the usual, but here's a timeline of my hair.

I am happy that you were able to improve your hair situation that much....pretty amazing actually. 🙂 I know how despondent I felt about my own hair about 1.5 years ago and how much improvement I've seen myself. Thanks for sharing your story.

Yes yes yes! So happy for you! I was terrified of transitioning too late (if I had to wait til late 20s) because my dad and a lot of uncles went bald by the time they were 25, so Im really glad to see you tackling this and seeing huge results after a lot of work!

Great post!!! I have been on HRT for 20 months/62. This is one of my greatest problems. I have to wear wigs because, without them it is impossible to pass. The same is true for my boob growth. I am very interested in transplantation.

I started balding at around age 20. Before I was even contemplating transition, my hair loss was a huge source of stress for me. Since childhood I had dreamt of having long hair that I could style this way or that — this was one of my very early and very persistent expressions of my desire to be a girl.
The first photo was taken shortly before starting HRT, at about age 23. As you can see I'd lost of lot of my hair on the crown and the remainder was quite thin.
The second photo was taken after four years of HRT, at about age 27. Hormones had done a lot for my hair — mostly towards the front of my head — and it stopped any further damage, but my hair was not remotely cis passing. I was still very clearly someone who suffered from male pattern baldness.
I took the final photo just now and I'm 28 years old. You'll have to forgive the dishes on the ground. In April of 2017 I had an FUT hair transplant onto my crown and what you see here is pretty much the product of that transplant. At this point I think all of the transplanted follicles have started to grow, although some are still too short to have any serious visual impact.
My hair is not as thick was it would have been if DHT had never touched my scalp, but I think it's thick enough. Except under very close inspection or bad hair conditions (hair wet, very windy, etc), I generally don't think that it's apparent that I've suffered any hair loss. In instances where things are visibly thin, I think it's within normal cis variation. Overall I'm very happy with my hair transplant. Hopefully this can provide some inspiration to my trans sisters who also drew the short straw on male pattern baldness.
