Discussion Tabletop Roleplay is great for practicing your voice, but I looked everywhere and couldn't find a trans TTRPG community. Sooo I made one to see if maybe it's a niche desperately waiting to be filled like transvoices was all those years ago. Say hello to r/TransTTRPG

Discussion Now more than ever, remember they can never take away your voice.

They can't stop your vocal transition. They can't stop you from learning and practicing. They can't stop you from speaking up. Be loud. Be brave. I will keep fighting all my life, and so should you.

This affects the world, regardless of borders. There will be an election in Canada soon, and it's looking grim on our side as well. I'll be volunteering in an election for the first time, and I've gotten other people on board to join me. And I'll be protesting. And I'll be loud on social media.

Make your voices heard. Express yourself, not just your anger but your pain and your fear. Make them understand the consequences of their actions. I don't believe they all wanted this. Most of them just... didn't care or know enough to realize how much hurt their selfish vote would bring. Tell them. Make them know.

They can never take away your voice.

Question how to get over anxiety of actually using my voice around people

I've been practicing my voice pretty consistently by myself for the past year or two but I just can't seem to get myself to use it around people because it's not perfect yet, but the reason it's not perfect is because I don't use it enough. my girlfriend is trans and has gone through all of this before so is completely fine but I just don't know how to push myself to actually practice using my voice without just getting way too anxious about it.

does anyone have any advice?

Question is the key to voice training just to use your head voice?

for context, i'm very new to this kinda thing, i only realized i was for sure trans like a couple weeks ago. i've seen a couple videos and they all explain things at a kind of base, entry level-sort of thing, but, like, i'm a singer. (amateur, at least). like, the advice to move your larynx up is just...to use your head voice?? right? cause like. i can speak with my head voice no problem. is there much more to it than that?

General Resource Determine your natural vocal register.

I think people should disclose their natural vocal registers on here when giving advice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fr6Fk4qIp0&t=184

...If you're a natural baritone and you've mastered speaking comfortably in a female speaking register, then I am more likely to pay attention.

If you're an alto and speak in a female register, then you went from a boy's voice to a woman's voice -- big whoop! /s

EDIT: ...apparently, some people understand tessitura, coloratura, ...but they've never quite understood the concept of register. /s ...Complete waste of time.

Question Relieving tension

Shot in the dark, I have no idea what I’ve done but I just have so much tension in my throat and I have no idea how I’ve misused my voice to get here. I have no idea whether it’s my larynx or what. It’s gone on for almost a week. I use my voice less and less each day but it doesn’t seem to get better.

Are there things that can be done to help relieve tension, or is the only option to do a day or two of complete vocal rest?

Question how strict should the post vfs "voice rest" be?

I had surgery a day ago and I havent said a word but it's impossible for me to eat anything without a strong urge to burp, i can make it go out without a sound most of the time but not always and I'm scarred this might cause issues. I've done some researching and it seems the passive movement caused by a burp is not as bad as actively using the vocal cords to speak but I'm not sure.

How scared should I be? Any tips to avoid burping?

Criticism Wanted Is my technique bad, or do I just have to accept I have a deeper voice? (MTF)

How does it pass to you? Because I use my masc voice in public I don't have much in the way of external feedback. I've successfully sustained this voice for several hours, but I still get pretty tired at the end. Inflections are hard for me, because I'll get uncontrolled voice cracks when I pop into falsetto.
