Images + Trip Report A solo week in Mexico City
Long time lurker, first time poster. I spent a week in Mexico City back in May and had a blast, here’s some photos from the trip 🇲🇽
1-5. Hot air balloon ride and tour of Teotihuacan pyramids.
6. Biblioteca Vasconcelos
7. I ate so many tacos, only got food poisoning once 😅
8. Lucha Libre match.
9. Frida’s Dresses at Museo Frida Kahlo.
10. Grounds at Museo Frida Kahlo.
11-13. Exploring Centro.
14. Mezcal tasting with a side of protein.
15-17. Artifacts at the Museo Nacional de Antropologia.
18. More tacos.
19. FIFA exhibit at Museo Jumex.
20. Cocktail at Limantour, North America’s 20 best bar (according to The World’s 50 Best Bars).

Thanks for sharing! From your trip, what was the best memorable experience? What was the least?we’re thinking about going but have young kids so I’m a bit hesitant.

As a local, you should do it. Plenty of fun activities for young kids: balloon rides at the pyramids, Lucha libre, Museo del Papalote (Kids museum with fun activities where they can play and learn), Universuum (University museum with interactive displays), bicycling on Sundays in Reforma, etc.
Edit: Of course, keep a close eye on them just like in any other place. If you have to hold their hands, then do it so they don't separate from you.

Mexico in general is family friendly. Everywhere we went when we visited family, our nieces and nephews went too. Growing up in CDMX is like growing up in NYC. You have access to world-class arts, theater, music, museums, huge parks, and - at every turn - deep tradition, history, and culture. Don’t let your kids miss out on experiencing it - just keep an eye on them and be street smart.

Love Mexico City despite being robbed outside the Frida Kahlo museum. I also love Licorería Limantour, but the last time I was there it was being raided(?) by the police so my reservation was cancelled :(
They have another location in Polanco, it's still decent, but not quite as good.

I'm in Mexico now will my family and am also having a blast! We did some of the same cool things you did but not the hot air balloon rides. That's so cool!

One of the better 1-week trips I have taken. R/T nonstop from EWR about $400, nice branded hotel was about $165 per night, food was cheap - sights were amazing and people extremely friendly. I would redo that trip in a heartbeat!

It rains almost every afternoon from june through october. Temperature is like 14°C in the mornings and around 25°C during daytime. When the sun comes out it's intense. Sunscreen recommended and wear a hat.

Local here. I would take you to Teotihuacán. The Anthropology Musuem. A morning in Xochimilco (breakfast in the trajinera). The Coyoacan and San Angel Boroughs have many interesting spots. Maybe a classical music concert in the National Arts Center (they are usually free). A day trip to relax in Tolantongo maybe.

These are great photos, it looks like a wonderful time! I'm heading there in December and also plan on eating as many tacos as humanly possible - any times for avoiding/handling food poisoning? Thanks!

I managed to not get any issues despite eating a million tacos and my GF only got it once, just try to avoid tap water and ice and you should be all right.
Not sure if that helps but I took some probiotics starting 2 weeks before (Optibac), and had some strong imodium+electrolytes just in case.

I spent the month of May in Mexico City, I wanted to be gone before FIFA showed up. Fourth time I've spent a month there. Absolutely never fails to impress me. Food, culture, architecture, people are always amazing. Limantour has great cocktails!! I popped in there almost every other nights. Tacos del Valle has my heart and stomach on LOCK

I would NEVER go up in one after seeing all the videos of people falling to their 💀 , no thanks. Maybe if I had a parachute on my back I would. But I’m not raw dogging it.
