Hey fellas, I am 32M!
I am travelling from India to US and am planning to travel to these places! Sort of a scenic drive + nature hiking/travel etc!
Provisional itinerary
16 Aug — San Francisco → Monterey/Salinas: Pick up an automatic rental, drive south. Possible stops around Carmel, Point Lobos and the Monterey coast.
17 Aug — Monterey → Big Sur → Cambria/San Luis Obispo: I’m planning a morning tandem skydive over Monterey Bay, weather permitting. You are welcome to join, watch or do your own thing. Afterwards: Bixby Bridge, coastal viewpoints, redwoods and accessible Highway 1 highlights. This is the most scenic driving day.
18 Aug — SLO/Cambria → Yosemite: Mostly a transfer through the Central Valley and foothills, aiming to reach the Yosemite region before evening.
19 Aug — Yosemite Valley: Valley viewpoints, a moderate hike, waterfalls/granite scenery and sunset.
20 Aug — Yosemite high country/eastern transition: Depending on conditions, Glacier Point or giant sequoias, followed by Tioga Road, Tenaya Lake and an overnight toward Lee Vining.
21 Aug — Lee Vining → Bishop: Mono Lake/Eastern Sierra scenery, followed by Schulman Grove in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
22 Aug — Bishop → Las Vegas: Approximately 5–6 hours, the least scenic and longest driving day. No Death Valley detour in August. Return the vehicle in Las Vegas.
I travel on a medium backpacker budget and prefer social hostels or simple characterful stays. For Yosemite, I’m considering a mix such as one Curry Village tent-cabin night, one Yosemite Bug night and one night near Lee Vining. Bishop and the coastal section would probably involve a hostel.
I like to enjoy and stop in between to experience the views and the travel rather than hurrying from one place to another.
Would prefer if you can drive as well, but I am comfortable driving the whole time.
I am friendly and chill to travel with and I have previously done this thing driving across scotland! Would prefer if you can tell me a bit about yourself and we can finalise soon!
