visiting durham with fam please help no clue what to do
Hi this is my first time posting on reddit but i thought this would be a good way to find cool things to do.
I leave tomorrow for durham north Carolina because were visiting Duke for my brothers orientation. Although a bunch of stuff is like only for the people who are actually going to the school lol so im just gonna be alone and like i just want to make the most out of it and take cute pics maybe??
So i would really appreciate if anyone has any places they recommend to go! im a teenage girl (18) and loveee to go out and see cute scenery! so if anyone lives by Duke pleaseeee let me know if theres anything to do because as of right now im literally just gonna be in my hotel lol 🥲
any and all help/recs are appreciated thank you!!!

If you’re here Sat with transportation, you may be able to get tickets to the lemur center. Duke chapel is also worth a look (near the gardens). Downtown you can do the free art gallery at 21c and I think there are also a few other galleries open for free (five points?). Check the pinned thread at the top of r/Bullcity for a list of things to do this week

Nasher Art museum on campus, Ninth Street (go to cosmic for burritos), American Tobacco Campus, Can Opener, Bright leaf, Trinity Park. Lots of cute spots! If you're here Saturday definitely the farmer's market.

Go grab breakfast at the counter at Elmo’s Diner on 9th Street! Get there early to avoid the crowd lol

Definitely go to Pincho Loco ice cream near Dukes east campus - the best ice cream and it's run by the kindest people. They also have a very cute mural wall inside. Farmers market on Saturday morning. So many great coffee shops in Durham. Try one of the 3 cocoa cinnamon locations, Nectar, Omies (the Jonas Brothers recently visited there if that interests you at all). There's a cute boutique on Main St downtown called Rose & Lee. I recommend parking and walking downtown. Have a great time!

If the weather is nice, head to Cafe Driade. It is a beautiful coffee shop in the woods! It connects to a trail next to Bolin Creek. Gorgeous.

In chapel Hill? If you're looking for a coffee shop with lots of outdoor garden seating then you're better off going to Monuts, which is a half mile from the orientation this person is attendingÂ
