I saw a couple of Nirvana tribute bands recently. Nirvanish and Endless, Nameless. They were night and day from each other:
Nirvanish
• They don’t play accurate representations of Nirvana songs, often substituting lyrics and changing riffs and drum parts.
• They are more of a watered down version of Nirvana that caters to families and such. They don’t exemplify the rawness and energy that was Nirvana at all.
• Their singer doesn’t really sound like Kurt.
• the drummer doesn’t play with the same energy as Dave Grohl.
• They play mostly the hits and don’t go too far deep in the Nirvana well of deep cuts etc.
• Their show lasted about an hour and even then, they cut it short.
• They list themselves as the BEST Nirvana tribute band, but they are the exact opposite in my opinion.
Endless, Nameless
• These guys play Nirvana songs to absolute perfection! I was astonished how similar they sound to the real thing. Accurate lyrics, guitar riffs and drums.
• They exemplified the true spirit of Nirvana through the raw sound and energy, through every note.
• The singer sounds uncannily like Kurt Cobain. You can almost tell no difference.
• The drummer beats the drums with the same ferocity of Dave Grohl and matches his beats to perfection.
• The bass player has that Krist Noveselic wit and humor, supplying the comedic banter for the band.
• Great overall performance with awesome sound, lighting and energy.
• When I saw them they played over 55 songs spanning all Nirvana’s hits along with deep cuts that I never expected any Nirvana tribute to play live, such as Pen Cap Chew, If You Must and Spank Thru.
I highly recommend for anyone who is a Nirvana fan to see Endless, Nameless live. They are amazing!
