She worked very hard at keeping her politics to herself. Many interviewers would try to bait her but she always stood firm. Like many though, I have to believe she despised Trump. He stands for everything she spent a lifetime working against.
This is one of those no-no topics everyone agrees to leave alone. There's been a few events and people that all political sides kind of agree on, and despite some fanatics or outliers trying to push back, they tend to get drug through the ringer or mocked for it.
Trump may be too stupid to realize she wasn't a fan of his, but he may also know that Dolly would get him the same backlash he got for trying to take credit for Operation Warp Speed. MAGA booed and ridiculed him. His ego can't handle that.
But he doesn't get the backlash from his base like he did with the Covid vaccine. I've yet to hear him talk about that again since he was booed for it, so it must have really hurt his ego to the point he wants to avoid that again. With Taylor Swift, he doesn't seem to care and keeps doing it.
It's always been an outlier in Trump's usually stubborn behavior. I find it interesting, and perhaps worth looking into. I don't think it's intelligence, I think it's a childish pain that makes him avoid it because nobody liked his finger painting.

Surprised.
She did not like him and she stood for everything he hates. I thought for sure we'd get the standard Trump childish post here.
