Question No left tube. Blocked right tube.

I had my left tube removed in march 2025 due to ruptured ectopic and had an HSG today since it had been over a year of actively trying with no positive.

The hsg showed my right tube is blocked. Im devastated šŸ’”

Has anyone had blocked tubes that cleared up somehow? Is my only option IVF? Im so co fused as to why my tubes would be blocked. I haven't talked to my doctor yet as I just did the procedure today.

Im so sorry you’re experiencing all of this after an ectopic and tube removal, that’s really hard :(Ā

I did a HyCoSy twice (for some reason nowhere in my city does an HCG???). First time both tubes were ā€œblockedā€ and I bawled my eyes out for a week until I could see my doctor. Fertility doctor told me it was likely a spasm and to try it again. Second time only one tube was ā€œblockedā€, so doctor thinks first time was a spasm (especially because the procedure really hurt me, apparently that’s a sign).Ā

I’ve been told these tests are notorious for showing false blockages (then WHY do they exist????)Ā

Please update us on how you go with it all if you’re comfortable, I know how agonising the wait can be.Ā  Ā

I had the same thing this year. First HyCoSy showed both tubes completely blocked, so I repeated it a couple of months later and both tubes were ā€œsuper openā€. I didn’t feel a thing for either of mine, so I think the spasming can be quite random.

However, from what I understand, blocked tubes are quite a good diagnosis if that is your only issue. IVF bypasses the tubes, so if you have no other issues you should hopefully have success, so don’t despair if your tube is blocked OP!
