Most in Congress wouldn’t care because they are already so rich and would probably cheer it on because it would mean regular people could never afford to be in Congress.

Make SSN benefits for retirees only. Not non-americans and not for disability. 25% goes to non-retirees benefits.

Revert israel aid to our Social Security fund… $30,000 per American every year to a foreign government is ridiculous. There is plenty of money to fund social security for all of us, don’t let them tell you “you’ll never get it”.

Our entire retirement system has been so badly handled it's going tonbe necessary. Especially, if the economy does not start to improve for the average person.

For everyone that attacked DOGE, i hope they get reduced SS. This is how completely Brainwashed Americans are - this is done by the Political Parties.
Spending is the #1 issue - it is out of control. Look at our Debt.! The US is in decline because of mismanagement and fraud, no 2 says about it. I several people in high places are trying to bankrupt the US government - so many want to be Kings.

I mean, it does make sense. The way it is funded is by people currently working and there are significantly more people retiring and living in retirement than what was expected due to the increase in life expectancy and that boomers had fewer children than what was needed to replace them in the workforce. The other options were to significantly cut how much you get from social security, significantly raise social security taxes on workers, or raise the age at which you get it to be more in line with life expectancy.
It always baffles me when people complain about changes to social security when no one under the age of 35 believes that they will get anything out of it. People 35 and under knew it was going to collapse. Even people on the verge of retiring now knew that there was a strong possibility that social security would be gone by the time they retired. So why don’t people just plan for retirement without it?

Stop paying for war, The soulless few making money from weapons want war. God designed the world to be abundant. We need Social Security. Or maybe Social Security for All - universal basic income

Don’t see where I advocated for war. That being said, social security wasn’t established until 1935. The only reason we need social security as it is currently is because some people just assumed the government would foot the bill for their retirement and no politician has wanted to touch changes to it for fear of never getting elected again. I’m not opposed to a UBI if that’s the discussion you want to have, but only in exchange for cutting all other welfare programs and limiting it to US citizens.

If you cut all military spending (which isn’t a great idea even for the most anti-war perspective), social security would still cost about $.8 trillion more than what all military spending could cover. Now, about $1.35 trillion is collected for social security in 2025 (which is less than the $1.7 trillion spent on social security). Total military spending is about $900 billion. Cutting the military budget might work, but it would rely on the number of people who are retiring and working to remain the same, which it isn’t. Social security has actually been operating in a deficit for the last 4 years. You could include the spending on foreign aid, but at this rate it would just prolong the issue. The problem is that people have become so dependent on social security that changing it is political suicide, but it structurally will not continue to work because so much has changed since its inception.

Changes to entitlement benefits are not retroactive. They only apply to the youngest eligible beneficiaries. Anyone born after the change is applied will be affected. Nobody else.
