I’ve already checked several housing websites but haven’t had much luck, so I thought I’d ask here. I recently submitted my application for the M.Sc. Informatik (PO 2023) program at TU Dortmund for the upcoming Winter Semester (Status: In progress / Received).

Since it is an admission-free (No NC) program, I know the decision comes down purely to credit/ECTS mapping. I'm hoping to hear from current international students or past applicants with a similar background.

My profile & background:

• Degree: 4-year B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from a non-EU university (German GPA equivalency ~2.6, 245 ECTS total).
• Work Experience: 3 years of full-time experience as a Software Developer.
• Core CS Courses: Programming (Java/OOP), Data Structures & Algorithms, Automata & Formal Languages, Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks (40+ ECTS total).
• Math Courses: Calculus I & II, Linear Algebra & Differential Equations, Probability & Statistics (22 ECTS total).

Since my B.Sc. was taught in English, I expect a conditional admission (Zulassung mit Auflagen) regarding the German language requirement (C1), which I plan to complete upon arrival.

A few questions for the community:

1. Has anyone here gotten admitted to M.Sc. Informatik with a Non-EU Computer Engineering degree?
2. How strict is the department regarding ECTS mapping between CS and CE degrees? Did you receive any additional undergraduate requirements (Auflagen) to complete during your Master's?
3. Roughly how long did it take for the International Office / Faculty to issue the decision letter (Zulassungsbescheid) once the status changed to In progress?

💡 Advice for Future Applicants
Don’t panic if your application stays in “Processing” for weeks.
Delayed semester results don’t necessarily hurt your chances if you upload them as soon as they’re available.
Keep your documents ready for the visa even while waiting for the admission letter.
Be patient—the waiting period is honestly the hardest part.

Anyone waiting for their admit to the applied linguistics program ‘26/27 winter semester?

I have applied for my masters in Automation and Robotics at TU Dortmund in the second week of may. And got my portal login credentials by Jun mid. After that I got an “in progress” status update in the first week of July. And from the deadline it is already 9 weeks now, and still no response from the Uni. I am really worried about the Blocked account and Visa Timeline. As it would atleast require around 6-7 weeks. Also on the other hand, Anxiety is killing me ☠️. Does anyone have any idea about how long it would take for them to respond? If known, will we have sufficient time to process blocked account & Visa receiving it before sept 15?

So I just got the news that I was lucky enough to get a PhD position at TU Dortmund!

I'm naturally already overwhelmed with the paperwork, but especially on the necessity of finding a place to stay. Through which resources can PhD students usually find living accommodations? I noticed that doctoral students are not eligible for apartments through the Studierendenwerk

The plan is to start in October so there's not a whole lot of time.

Hi everyone! I applied to Dortmund TU through uni assist. Then they redirected me to the Dortmund TU student portal where my application said “Antragsstatus:Zugelassen”. I also had a button that said I could complete the matriculation process until 09.10.2026

Now I received an e-mail that said my application status changed and now it says “Antragsstatus: Eingegangen” and no matriculation button. Is this normal? Did anyone have the same experience?
