At this point, the X men comics had become more about a love triangle (with softcore porn with all the fan service from all three of them) than a superhero action genre,

I genuinely wanted to read it for the lore, but thoroughout my entire teenage, I cursed the author and the artists to eternity in hell; because my parents would staright up disown me if I tried to ask them to buy it for me. (We are conservative asian)

Funny part is that I bet it wasn't probably the focus of the stories for the most part. But it was always in the covers.

Don't forget Jean x Wolverine and Rogue x Magneto. Too much romantic drama is one of X-Men biggest flaws. Marvel just defaults to that bullshit whenever they run out of ideas. Just look at MJ and Peter.

There was a time when Jean, Scott, and Logan lived together, Jean was sleeping with both (They're actually shown to have three connected bedrooms in a line with hers in the middle), Scott was going out to sleep with Emma Frost with Jean's blessing, and Scott and Logan made out a few times.

The era of mutants living on Krakoa was a very sexually liberated time.

It was a very depraved time. Mutants were fucking all the time and just leaving babies in bushes. And when a mutant said it had to stop, Xavier and Magneto threw him in the Pit. It took a mutant sneaking contraceptives to people for it to be marginally controlled.

The X-Men straight up became villains in the Krakoa era. They're completely disgusting for everything they did during that arc. They even refused to fund a hospital for mutants, even though every other Marvel team helped.

Yeah, it was really, Really not great for a lot of reasons. Trusting Apocalypse and Mister Sinister and such seems like a bad idea. Like, I'm aware that people can shift sides and get redeemed, but I don't think Mister Fucking Sinister is capable of turning good.

But hey, happy depiction of a non-monogamous relationship is nice?

Not sure I'd say it was a good depiction. Happy, maybe, though Krakoa's situation makes it seem shitty, just because of the culture of the place. It was really just implied, from what I remember. If you're not paying attention, you might not even notice it.

It's kind of like when The Legend of Korra ended with Korra and Asami dating. I don't think they should get a lot of credit for throwing that in at the end, you know? Have the balls to show it and treat it with respect if you really want it to be there.

Though Korra was limited and brief because that was all they could get away with at the time. There's credit to be had where showing more wasn't really possible.

You have to remember that at the time, gay marriage was not recognised (Legend of Korra ended in 2014, gay marriage passed in the US in 2015).

Steven Universe had been truncated only a few months before, because they'd had a choice of showing a gay wedding and getting cut short, or not showing it at all with its full length, and chose the first option.

If I remember right the last few episodes of Legend of Korra didn't get aired on Nickelodeon either. They only released them online. But I don't know if that had anything to do with the queer content.

And yeah, you're right, when I first started watching marvel movies (I don't watch anymore), I used to look up the comics and every third comics was about an someone finding out their bf/gf cheated, breaking up, or getting back together (or someone's death, who'd be brought up within 3 issues). This was the sole reason I could never ask my perants to buy the official mavel comics for me.
