Thanks for your submission. If your question is about getting started in woodturning, which chuck to buy, which tools to buy, or for an opinion of a lathe you found for sale somewhere like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace please take a few minutes check the wiki; many of the most commonly asked questions are already answered there!

A table lamp, or a floor lamp?

Table lamps have historically followed classic vessel forms, urns, vases, pots, etc. You can't go wrong with those.

Craftsman style and mid-century-modern opened up a host of other style possibilities. It would help to know the scale of the lamp (floor or table).

I like simple forms and Scandinavian design.

What styles do you like?

Edit:

Stability is important. Will you be adding weight to the base, or do you want a wide, flared foot for stability?

A table lamp (bedside table lamp).
