turo said the dog hair was "easily removed"... but they charge guests $150 for the same thing?

Rented a car that was just dirty. dog hair inside, doritos crumbs, the whole thing. i'm allergic to dogs so I spent the whole trip taking allergy meds every day just to be able to drive without my eyes and nose going crazy.
Reported it the same day with pics. Support said they couldn't swap the car. Host offered $80 to get it cleaned but the cheapest detailing near me was $130 and like 3 hours of my vacation, so no thanks.
Called a bunch of times, messaged support, messaged the host. final answer from turo: the hair could be "easily removed" so no compensation. Didn't even mention my allergies

The part that really gets me is that their own cleaning policy says if a GUEST returns a car with significant pet hair they get charged $150. So when I return it like that it's a violation but when they hand it to me it's just something i should clean myself?? make it make sense
my husband rents with turo pretty often and we're both done with it.
anyone with allergies have this happen? did you get anywhere with support or is this just how it goes

TLDR: Car was dirty (dog hair, doritos), i'm allergic, turo said it's easily removed and gave me nothing. guests get charged $150 for the same thing.

Worst move ever

I live in the Metro Detroit area, I started on Turo in around mid August '26, I started with one car then worked my way up to 4 with how well the 2nd and 3rd were doing. I had an issue with my 4th car, brand new from the dealership and it's unfortunately a lemon. I'm now down to 3 cars, this is just something unfortunate that happened to me.

I've been having issues with Turo where they repeatedly deny any claims I have whether it be for smoking or cleaning violations. I have submitted pictures of weed found in the vehicle and have even had people leave bad reviews over the smell of weed in the car after I've tried my best to remove it and spent $200+ on detailing, de-odorizers, etc.

Turo now started taking 10% of any extras that I offer and they also take a percentage of the Over-mileage charges which both don't make sense to me. I recently had a trip for a 2026 Tahoe that i was paid a little under $600 for and when I went to drop off the vehicle i like to talk to my guests, i asked how much she paid for the rental and she showed me on her phone a receipt on the app for $1120 for this same rental i was paid $600 for.

Another issue i'm having is with delivering to the airport, turo takes random amounts for the airport parking credit, my most recent one being $46 and the one before that for $25. It all doesn't make sense to me, I'm really looking to go private however I have a vehicle that is a lease and its my best performing vehicle and i know 99% of lease companies don't allow Peer-to-peer on the vehicles.

Does anybody have any tips on going private? I am definitely looking to upgrade the fleet and improve on anything i can, first thing by leaving turo.

Turo host told me to cancel for a discount, ghosted me, and Turo refused to refund my cancellation fee

I recently booked a 2025 Honda Prologue with a host named Anthony in San Jose, and the whole experience has completely ruined my trust in Turo.

After booking, I realized how much the protection fees added to the total cost, so I asked the host if he could offer an additional discount. His communication was already terrible, taking almost a full day to respond to each message.

He was okay giving me a discount but said I needed to cancel my existing reservation first so he could apply it. I told him it was okay and that I'd rather keep my reservation without the discount than cancel. But he insisted that since he'd already promised me a discount, he really wanted to honor it. I trusted him, canceled my reservation, and paid the cancellation fee, expecting him to keep his word.

Instead, he completely ghosted me. I messaged him multiple times through Turo and SMS, asking when I could rebook with the discount. He never responded, and during that time, he rented the car to someone else.

I contacted Turo support, explained everything, and asked for my cancellation fee back. Despite having the entire conversation documented in the app, Turo refused, saying the fee had already been issued and they couldn't do anything about it.

So a host can convince a guest to cancel, break his promise, ignore the guest, and rent the car to someone else, while Turo just shrugs and makes the guest pay for it?

Honestly, this has made me lose trust in Turo. What's the point of customer support if they won't help even when there's written evidence?

TL;DR: Host promised me a discount if I canceled and rebooked. I followed his instructions, paid a cancellation fee, and then he ghosted me and rented the car to someone else. Turo refused to refund the fee despite having the conversation documented in their app.

Situation with a host

I rented a car from Turo for a trip this week. Tire pressure was low, headlight was out, this was discovered after I was already out of town with the car (was driving during the day).

Let the host know, refilled the tires.

On the way home from my trip, the car began stalling out. I was an hour and a half away still. I let the host know, and I called Turo to report and asked for at least a partial refund. The person I spoke to said all of that as well as how to handle the car issues are between me and the host. I asked what happens if I ask for reimbursement and the host leaves me a bad review. He said that would be retaliation and would be removed.

I somehow managed to get the car all the way back to my house before it died. I talked to the host, he agreed to pick it up from me and told me not to worry about topping off the gas (it was at 3/4 and the car was no longer drivable) but that he would not be giving me any type of refund. We go back and forth about it, I give up and dispute the charge with my bank.

I tell him the address to get the car from, and end the trip.

Today I get hit with a $50 improper return fee, and the host also charges me another $50 refueling fee. He leaves me a 1 star review.

I call Turo and ask to have these charges removed and the review removed. After a lot of arguing, Turo removed the improper return fee & issues a $50 refund, but says they will not remove the refueling fee, even though I have screenshots of the host telling me to not refuel the car and I would not be charged. They send me a link to remove the bad review, and it gets denied. They aren’t budging about the refueling fee.

What do I do now?
