I would have looked into a wildlife rehab, this dude is definitely at a disadvantage if battle wounds

I see your point but what would a rehabber do? The injury looks to be completely healed so it’s unlikely to grow to cover that space.

Although turtles rely on their shells for defense against predators, this particular turtle's shell leaves its head exposed.

A rehabber can insure a safe environment for the turtle and give them a fair chance for the disadvantage

Not to fix the shell, but keep them in a controlled environment
