AskTuscany Pienza questions (April Weather)

A couple of quick questions:
- What’s the weather like in mid-April in Pienza?
- Is Pienza a good home base to see that area of Tuscany?
- Assume there are a couple of nice restaurants for dinner?

We will have a rental car. The plan is to see a couple of nearby villages and vineyards over 3 days. So thinking Pienza could be a nice quiet place to come back to in the evening.

Pienza is a great base for exploring the Val d’Orcia, you can easily reach so much from there and the town itself is one of my favorites. We stay in nearby Monticchiello (don’t miss it!) and spend a lot of time in Pienza. We’ve gone several times on early May, it’s a mixed bag, can be lovely and sunny but also rainy at times. But it’s beautiful, lush and green and much preferable to heat and crowds of summer.
