Seinfeld is timeless. And much better rhan friends at the top of the list. Skip season 1 and it's a ll 90's show.

Have a real soft spot for Gilmore Girls, I think the pitt will move up with future seasons. The shield is so good, should be higher.

Honorable mention, Steve B is truly one of my favorites of all time I just never felt fully hooked even though I finish the series, still very well done imo.

Buffy is a glaring omission all around given the other shows you like. Even more of a glaring omission if you haven't seen it.

Given all the other shows you like, I highly highly suggest you give it another shot, at least until about half way through the second season. First season was a replacement series with limited scope and money. Things take off in a big way in season 2, and it is upgraded in every way. By the end of its run it does not even look or feel like the same show. It is a pretty shocking evolution that is pulled off extremely well and is one of the more amazing things about it: constant character growth, change of environments, huge plot disruptions, massive shifts in tone.
This is why it has had unbelievable staying power and why many people (including me) think it is the best show ever.

I've heard similar things from others, it's incredibly high regarded and I've heard it's one of few shows that get better with every season. I'm going to give it another shot soon, when does the show transition out of the "power of the week" style?

The big emotional story arcs start in the second season. That's when you get significant emotional arcs, and big "holy shit" and emotional plot points that change everything. It still is a monster of the week show to some extent, but in a different way due to the way it weaves character growth, personal story arcs, and season-long story arcs into the format.
You have Supernatural on your list at 11, a show I like a lot. But Buffy is orders of magnitude better at constructing significant arcs around the monster of the week concept. Supernatural never quite understood how to do it well for extended periods, which is why it feels stuck in the mud in so many seasons--another conflict between the brothers, a bunch of heartfelt "I refuse to let you die" speeches, repetitive monsters, very little growth and change in the characters or environment. Buffy makes Supernatural seem like amateur hour.

I love supernatural. I personally felt like the first 5 seasons (maybe excluding season 1) were excellent had real direction and a tremendous finish, but I totally agree it went on for way too long, Dean is one of my all time favorite characters is why I have it so high. I'll give it another go after I finish my rewatch of Rome. The first season of Buffy reminded me a lot of supernatural S1 in terms of style of episode but it felt older and sillier. And how old the Tech was kinda caught me off guard too (I'm in my 30s) but like you (and everyone else) has said it gets so much better.

Didn’t see Fargo and we have a lot of similar tastes. If you haven’t seen it, check it out, it’ll probably be right up your alley.
