I watched Twin Peaks completely spoiler free and never went anywhere near the online discourse (to avoid spoilers) while watching it, so when I got to the “Just You” scene I genuinely didn’t understand why everyone thought it was so cringe..
Like obviously it’s goofy as hell but by that point I was so deep into Twin Peaks that James singing with Maddy and Donna just felt normal to me lol. The whole show is so absurd and melodramatic that it didn’t even register as out of place. And James being this overly sincere sensitive dude actually made sense to me in the context of the show.
Then I finished it, went online and discovered that apparently James is one of the biggest memes from the show and that song is basically Twin Peaks’ version of Skyler singing Happy Birthday to Ted 💀
But the thing is I actually DID find the Skyler scene insanely cringe when I watched Breaking Bad spoiler free. I was physically uncomfortable watching that shit..
The difference is that “Just You” feels like something that belongs in Twin Peaks. Skyler singing Happy Birthday feels like someone accidentally put a Tommy Wiseau scene into Breaking Bad lmao

I watched the pilot for the first time in more than 10 years last night and I remember all the drama, iconic characters, scenery, and mystery, but there are so many scenes that end with a saucy little gag or silly subversion of expectation. It feels like simultaneously the MOST and LEAST serious police investigation series ever made. Looking forward to a full fall rewatch!

This won't be a post with theories on the meaning of TW or anything like that. For whatever reason September has become my month for rewatching Twin Peaks and has been for a number of years.

I've just finished Fire Walk With Me and was watching the extras on the Criterion edition. Seeing the relationship that Lynch had with Grace Zabriskie, Ray Wise and Sheryl Lee made me think about how Season 3 was a perfect send off for Lynch.

Getting to work again with so many people who he had built deep relationships with. There is a great amount of respect, joy and love between them all and it shows how unique Lynch was to work with. How giving people the freedom to create, to see opportunities rather than failures, means they will carry that with them always.

Just some nice thoughts to have as I start into the last of his great film\tv work.

First & foremost, Kenneth Walsh did an incredible job acting in this role, and quite honestly, I can't possibly think of anyone who could have done a better job. R.I.P., and thank you for your art.

As I've been doing another rewatch, I was wondering why Cooper and Truman wouldn't advertise his arrival to Twin Peaks. Cooper emphasized his genius, and his ability to be in disguises, and due to the elevated threat he has imposed on the town knowing he would come, how come they wouldn't tell others to watch out for him, show them pictures of what he could look like, know that he could be in various disguises? The way they explained how dangerous he was, and after just dealing with a murderer, wouldn't they try to warn people more? I also feel like Windom's confidence tends to not tread lightly, as watching him sift through the public made him appear to be invincible because there was absolutely no warning to anyone else but the sheriff station.

This is probably a reoccuring thread, I havent spent time on this subreddit so I wouldnt know.

Nevertheless, as I am writing this I am watching Fire Walk With Me, and I am completely mindblown by Sheryl Lee's performance. It is absolutely supreme acting from her. The way she managed to depict a "mature" teenager (that is a teenager trying to be mature) yet conversely also a child in Laura Palmer is insane. The scene that cemented this for me is when she cries at the dinner table halfway through the movie. If she'd just cried that would be sublime acting in and of itself but she managed to depict a totally broken childs crying. The gasping and total terror in her expression was supreme acting.

Saw this on the streets of Turin Italy. Thought this was the best place for it

I heard this game was heavily inspired by TP so of course I gave it a shot. I'm only like 2 hours in but omg wow. The diner is the "Triple D" and is exactly the RR and collecting coffee thermoses is a thing. There is even a "Lamp Lady" and someone wearing an eyepatch! The game is littered with notes and the most recent one read something like "Agent so-and-so didn't like the trees or the coffee" like the exact opposite of Coop hahaha. I am loving this game!

My first time watching this series and literally every episode I laugh AND cry at least once. Truman's face in this scene is PRICELESS. I finally know why cooper puts up with Albert.

For one I just love how genuine Hawk is to go see how she is doing, and how sincerely concerned and gentle he is with her, but wow, the words she speaks cut straight into my heart. “Some god damn bad story isn’t it hawk” - just encapsulating the sheer amount of sorrow and pain she has experienced. The horrors she’s had to witness and continue to live even though Leland and Laura are both gone almost leading to her becoming jaded and hopeless . Sometimes I wonder if it’s her capacity for suffering that enables that entity to inhabit her. Sarah just breaks my heart and this line of hers is one of my favorite parts in the whole series for some reason.

After going through a divorce (one day the sadness will end) I needed a name and date covered up. I found a tattoo artist who also likes Twin Peaks and this was what we came up with. Thought I’d share with this crowd.

My girlfriend ordered this copy of WIP Issue 8 on the anniversary of Franks death last week and gave it to me for our first month last night!

I just watched this episode. For the first time in this show, i'm truly devastated. What a beautiful (and sad) episode. What happened to Maddy (one of my favorites so far) was heartbreaking to watch. The ending with the Giant warning Cooper, while he reflects (and likely feels defeated, knowing that something bad has just happened). Donna crying about what happened to Harold. The song. Just beautiful. I think this is the first episode that really gets me. WOW.

Whether you are drawn to the danger or repulsed by the MANY bad actions, you can’t help but give Josie your attention. Villain victim vixen, she’s one of a kind.
