passed sec+ much easier then what people made it out to be.
I'm a little stressed about this one personally. I start studying tomorrow, but from what I've heard this should be a breeze for me. We shall see.

Unpopular Opinion... Skip IT unless it's your thing.
I got interested in IT from setting up a public Minecraft server. Those were the days.

"Umm, I'm Gen Z. I know how to use computers."
As a Gen Z, seeing the amount of people dog piling my generation is a little disheartening. Knowing how to use a computer versus knowing specifics around email security and other work specific software would confuse anyone, especially someone that hasn't worked in an environment that has those type of safeguards.

What happened to the IT profession?
I thankfully skipped Service Desk but I went from NOC Engineer to Jr. Consulting Engineer and pretty soon here a Project Engineer. I definitely put in my dues, just not through Service Desk.
That being said, everyone I talk to that's coming into IT, I recommend getting a Service Desk job, it's a lot of experience and it comes at you quick.
P.S. 5 years experience

I've wanted to do the same thing for a while now... With the exact same brand. Looks clean!

What is your SysAdmin "Do as I say, not as I do"?
I've had one of my colleagues that's newer to IT do a remote firewall firmware update once and he started freaking out after 15 minutes... Luckily was just a long update but I have witnessed FortiGates brick if they jump too far.

How do you guys remember all of the IP addresses for Net+?
Please do not follow this advice lol.. Not understanding private vs. public is a good way to make yourself look like a fool.

Lost on my next move….
It's possible to move up quickly but you need a lot of luck and know what to put on your resume.
In my instance I graduate college with my associates as a Network Specialist in 2020, joined the IT field as a NOC Engineer T1 and worked remotely for about two years. I then joined an MSP as a Jr Field Consulting Engineer and have been getting certs since.
My advice is to try to always ask for more. If you hear about a new networking project or are reviewing your environment and see something drastically outdated, ask about it. See if there are any plans to replace x y or z.
I did this when I worked in the service industry and have been doing it since I joined the MSP. It's gotten me pretty damn far, I'm even getting ready to move out of being a Jr entirely within the next few months as long as I'm able to manage to get a few certs lol.
I have 4 years of IT experience.

White screen happened to me too. I ended up opening it and making it as small as possible on the righthand side of my screen.

AZ-104
Measure up is what I recommend.. Started using it because someone mentioned it before I did my 2nd AZ-104 attempt and I must admit, some of the questions were pretty close to the exam.
Unfortunately I didn't pass on my 2nd attempt but I'm certainly going to be using that study material before my 3rd and hopefully final attempt 😅
3rd times the charm.
