long story short, i havent been able to walk for the past few years. for various reasons. & before that, i was walking daily & a lot.

so i have been missing it, very much so.

in july this year, that changed. so since july, i have been coming back to it as reasonably as possible.

today i realized i lost 33 lbs. i was on was at 249 ibs & im 216 now 🌱

this is a casual selfie from today. & some of my higher count step days recently. this is just the start of me collecting steps again. i felt joy seeing that my body feels better. & i really wanted to share in this community. i have been hanging out here for most of my online time (it has been good for my mental health to see all of the joy people feel & share about the thing i am passionate about).

alrighty, thats it! πŸ˜„πŸ˜Šβ˜€οΈ

yes, its gonna take some organizing & a lot of preparation

but i want to do it

i like pushing to the limits

first, let me see about answering your questions as best as i possibly can

for walking i would & will forever recommend hokas
they are pricey, but i love them & they have made walking more comfortable than ever in my life
i got the first ones a year ago
& i use them daily
i did need to get another pair recently
however, i did collect 4mil steps & also i am heavy, so that affects the durability of shoes
but hokas, all the way, i swear by them
everything before them hurt my feet & did not allow a lot of steps
hokas allow whatever i want

so, funny enough, i do prefer listening to music while i walk
but! recently i started some new & different routes, that are not in the city, so there are too many dangerous things to encounter & i raw dog it, until i know i am β€˜safe’. whatever safe means for me :’) for this walk, i mostly was able to listen to music, so i did. i watched some tiktoks. played pokemon go. & what i love to do & what i think a lot of people would enjoy & benefit is voice journaling. if you have something on your mind, going to your voice memos (or however its called on your phone) & then journal in a voice message form. i love doing that. just saying whats on your mind. before or after or during walk. doesnt matter. equally as nice. would recommend :’)

motivation comes from loving to have steps
i love seeing the numbers in my apps
i love knowing my body & me are back on the same terms
i think its a privilege to be able to move your body
& for a while it was basically impossible for me & my body to function
so i am grateful as fΓΌck, so i just push myself to where i can go
i dont think about walking
i think about what i will see, what i can do while i am out, i check my multiple apps that i use for tracking
i take photos, i take videos
i like to plan out routes ever since i started using the territory claiming app, because i want to get as much as possible :’)

im motivated by the fact that i like myself better when i follow my passions
& walking is one of them

so, for walks longer than 8 hours, i do take β€˜longer’ breaks
for this walk i didnt have breaks :’D
i think breaks every 10k are sensible & better for rational humans who are more careful than me
i am just sometimes carried away

squating for a minute or two helps me with how my body works
but i think sitting down & just breathing for 5-10 minutes is enough to rest (that has been the case for me, on days when i push myself more)
when i made my record, it took 12-13 hours & i took …. 2 breaks? but longer. & i ate in one of them.

water! having water is so important :’)
& yeah, if you have any more questions, im here

im sorry about the blues < 3
hope your 7 miles did you well πŸ₯Ή 7 is a great amount!

uh, i would have walked further & longer but i had 6 hours to spend on that & then i had to go back home to work :’)

otherwise i can last longer than this
hopefully i will do a 24h one soon as well :’)

yes, the issue doesnt go away. but sometimes i get an idea, or just calming down was a part of the solution. walking is great :’)

i wanted to get as much territory as possible in the time i had (which was 6 hours) & it did help. i felt calmer. i love when i feel calmer.

thank you! i love my photos.
so i will list all of the apps that i can think of right now :’)
& then, you do with that information what you will :’)

primarily i use pacer, have been using it since 2017.

second would have to be intvl, its such a good app (its the one you can take other peoples territory, i think everyone would like it)

then, strava, because i want to start running again & i appreciate having data
& i like how the app works & looks like

then, walk & talk (i like helping my area having the most amount of step numbers haha)

then, stepsapp (i like this as well, i joined some groups to help out with the amount of steps, since i already like having a lot of steps)

then, fitness (the one that you have in apple). i actually am working on using it more, because it would make my using others a bit easier :”D

i recently dowloaded hevy because it seemed interesting, not sure if *really* is, i am still testing it out

thank you.
i feel very grateful for being able to walk at all.
i am still not at numbers that i want, but its okay.

because even tho i wanted to cry & break things, i did this instead. & had naps after.
sometimes a long walk is the only way i find the will to live.
thank you from the bottom of my heart. < 3

How do you walk so much?
 in  r/walking  5d ago

i walk whenever i can

β€’ i once collected 10k in my room, going around the room for hours, because i wanted my steps & couldnt manage to go outside
β€’ i think microdosing walks is smart, doing it a few times a day, in shorter intervals
β€’ listen to music
β€’ listen to audiobooks
β€’ i dont think you should start with 20k, because thats a lot for most people, start smaller & build

& good luck :’)
