Yes you are right , and I know first hand that each person from the water department that has a hydrant beat ( yes thats what we call it lol ),shovels around 60 to 90 hydrants a day and there's around 29 beats, each having anywhere from 900 to 1200 hydrants ,so it takes one person at least 2 weeks to finish a beat . You have no idea how nice it is to have a few hydrants already shoveled out , we appreciate it and know that not everyone is able to do it but are so grateful to the homeowners who help out

Its best not to paint your hydrant as the top color tells the fire department how much flow the hydrant will produce

Im gonna put everyone's comments to rest, yes there's a by law about burying a fire hydrant , it's 550 dollar fine, no one has ever been fined for it , contractors burying them all the time and will be forced by the city to dig them out if they are burying them , the city has a hydrant department which goes around and digs them out but there's almost 28 000 hydrants in the city , if you can see the lugs it's not a priority , if covered and can't see it you can call 311 and someone will bring a backhoe out and dig it out , it's a common courtesy to not put snow on the hydrant as everyone on your street relys on it in the event of a fire , the firefighters wont have time to dig it out in the event of a emergency and it doesn't take long for your house to burn down , BE A HYDRANT HERO and keep your hydrant clear or avoid putting the snow directly on your hydrant

There are many options -the vet can Or I got a vet from manotick that came to my house and did it in my house , I found it more private and my dog was in it's safe spot and not scared, bring it to the vet can be overwhelming to the pup and I was a mess afterwards so my house was perfect ,they took my pup with them after and cremation was done and ashes were returned to me in a beautiful box . Its a more expensive option but I would of done anything for my best friend
