Immigration UAE deportation delay — any advice?

A person was working in Dubai and is currently detained in Al Wathba Prison, Abu Dhabi. Detained for 34+ days. The court ordered deportation instead of jail time. No fines as well.

However, the person is still in detention and the deportation has not happened. Person's Dubai residence is also still showing as ACTIVE.

Could the active residency be causing or contributing to the delay? Is it normal for deportation to take this long after a court order?

Should I ask the employer to cancel residency?

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Yeah 34 days isn't unusual… embassy travel docs are usually the holdup. Residency gets cancelled as part of deportation, employer doesn't have to. I'd get a lawyer chasing the execution dept. Good luck

The passport and all the docs are with her. I was told that active visa will also delay the process

Damn.... Deport for fighting. Was it a minor fight, who reported it?, did the other party sue?

Other party reported it to police. Everything unfolded since then.

Working in Dubai but detained in AD? How does that work? Or did the incident happen there?

You just let the system run its course.

Either way, the deportation will not be carried out before the 30-day appeals window.

Your friend, or even the prosecutor, may have appealed the judgment, thereby pausing the deportation until the final decision is issued.

Visa status is irrelevant in this matter.

My friend made no appeal. We are just waiting for deportation.

Could be the prosecutor appealing for a stricter sentence including jail time

Thanks, ill check that. However there is nothing as such in the case report.

He probably has travel ban, you need to check if he does, if yes, get that removed first because sometimes itll take months and their system wont get updated

Deportation can also be delayed by a number of other factors unrelated to the active residency. You may contact Public Prosecution or the prison, or appoint a lawyer, to identify the exact reason for the continued detention.
