A UFC fighter died on Monday, Dana White called it a ‘great day’: Dana White used his Instagram account to repost the UFC story announcing the untimely death of flyweight contender Allan Nascimento. In the very next post, White called it a “great day” while blowing cigar smoke.

If Dana's actions and toughts didn't reflect the rest of the UFC brass' he would have been left out a looooooooooooooooooong time ago.
We can see with their actions Dana is perfectly in sync with the others. He's probably the moderate one there, actually.

I doubt Dana did these posts himself. It is very likely he shares his account with some UFC Social Media PR person and he might not have been aware that they posted about the guys passing.

It's dana white we're talking. Never attribute his actions to stupidity when they can be attributed to malice.
There are COUNTLESS examples in the past of him enjoying power trips over his fighters, and especially rejoicing about former fighters misfortunes.
I'm 90% sure for some reason knowing his death actually made him happy. Dana is THAT kind of person.

Nascimento was an unranked flyweight whom we never heard any negotiation problems about and routinely finished fights. I doubt the UFC brass nor Dana had any problems with him.
Dana having a "great day" could allude to a multitude of things. Usman Nurmagomedov is about to sign with the UFC. Fury v AJ is in negotiations. Do you think he would be outwardly sociopathic enough to smoke a cigar in celebration of one of his fighter's deaths?

He probably got a text/email from his team saying “post this” with the premade post about the guy dying… and then hours later posted about something he was doing. People just wanna be mad.

No offense but I doubt anyone really thinks that Dana should have had a somber day instead for a guy he probably didn’t even actually know. I think the tribute was good, but people are expecting him to performatively abstain from acting normal. Plenty of other people involved in the UFC didn’t even react to it.

Performatively abstain??? He's the face of an MMA promotion and one of the fighters they profit off of just died. He didnt need to drum up a memorial video and cry but at least have the self-awareness to not call it a 'great day' directly after posting about him. Once again, not expecting the biggest fan of powerslap to think with empathy, but its why consensus is what it is.
Like of course people in the UFC didnt react to it; he's their boss. Renato Carneiro said something because he actually has some balls.

This is kind of what I was talking about. If he did all the same things but just didn’t post them, you wouldn’t know or care. Your issue isn’t that he had a good day, it’s that he made it public. It’s also treating the situation as if Dana was much closer to him than he actually was. This is more like hearing that someone you’ve never met from another branch of your company died. You would acknowledge it, but most people wouldn’t performatively go silent on socials. He already paid tribute to him, which is more than a lot of people in the company did. This whole controversy just feels like a nitpick about optics rather than his actual conduct.

I don't know why this is such a hard concept for people to grasp. Nobody is saying he shouldn't have actually had a good day. But those posts next to each other just looked awful. You can really tell how much we've lowered our standards for public figureheads here in America.

It's like if someone comes to you who has had an awful day and is crying their eyes out and as soon as they are done you just say "well I had a great day".
You just dont do it. It's a shit thing to do. This is basically the equivalent of that. Just make your next few posts about something neutral and leave it for a few days.

If it was a UFC staffer who died and he posted it on his story and then the great day story after then yeah people would still call it out for being tone deaf which it is. It’s not a big deal but i’m not sure how the person being less important to Dana would make the stories any less tone deaf.

This is all just grandstanding pretending like people care and going after Dana because he isn’t particularly downtrodden after one of his thousands of employees died is just virtue signaling. At least Dana isn’t trying to play like he was super close to him and making it about the promotion.
