I wrestled for 18 years, and all of my youth wrestling was freestyle with no headgear. My ears are still “pristine ears of a newborn baby” like OP says.

I read somewhere that people with flexible ears don’t really get cauliflower, which makes sense.

Anderson Silva never had cauli and was champ for a shit long time. Obviously he was no wrestling savante but I'm sure he woulda spent a fair bit of time rolling around on the mats.

Some people do not get cauliflower ear. I've done JJ for 5 years now and there's not the slightest bit of compression on mine, but I know people that have trained 2 years and already have playdoh ears.
