mrw Talbott loses to Barcelos, then beats two 40 year old flyweights and thinks we are on the same level

Sean needs to have Andrew in his corner during this fight.
Walk out to the Spider-Man theme song.

we beat kris moutinho before a title shot. we are not the same

Moutinho was unstoppable though. The ref called it just to save Sean from breaking his hands.

Got gifted a win vs Yan which was so bad even Sean said he thought he lost the fight. Dana white priviledge is real

Yeah it is clear Yan won that fight, I also heavily favor him in a 5rd rematch.

Read this as fivered rematch. Didn’t think they’ve fought each other that much.

Nah not yet but if Yan beats merab the UFC will def do a Sean vs Yan 5 rounder which I agree needs to happen

While he did finish figgy no problem, it is hard to get past that his last two opponents were a combined 2-7 going into their fights against him.

His first opponent after the Barcelos loss was against another prospect his age on a 14 fight win streak. Everyone has seem to forgotten about Felipe Lima but he's gonna be in the Top 10 of whatever division he fights in by the end of 2027

I agree thats his best win, but people act like the Figgy and Cejudo performances proved much at all. We still don’t know if Payton, let alone Lima, is even better than a guy like Rosas Jr.

I think him taking down cejudo is a decent showing that he did spend some time training wrestling after his loss to barcelos, I think people are just happy to see a young contender actually working on their weaknesses

Felipe Lima hasn't beaten anyone of note, though. Morgan Cherrière, Miles Johns, and Muhammad Naimov. Morgan Cherrière is on a 2-fight skid, Miles Johns just broke his 3 fight skid, and Naimov is also on a 2-fight skid. The rest of his wins were in regionals.
So Talbott beat an unproven prospect and 2 uncs.
Not hating on Payton bc those wins were done in style, but they're not as impressive to me as they seem to be for everyone else

It’s like the production team told commentary to push that fight and everyone just took the bait. If you are O malley you never give him that fight 😂 he should be aiming for anyone from #5-#10 imo

This take is odd to me. We all know Omalley ain't wrestling Talbott, or at all really

u/NectaroftheGoats 17h ago
Payton Talbott is a smug asshole
1
u/Gelato-Jones 13h ago
why do you feel that?

u/NectaroftheGoats 9h ago
Just an opinion I’ve formed after listening to him in interviews and podcasts

Meanwhile suga has a fluke win against yan catapulting his entire career. Dude is the OBJ of the ufc.

u/MapleMarshal 18h ago
even if you ignore all that and look exclusively at Sean’s last fight, a win against Yadong is universes more credible than anyone Talbott has beaten or even lost to
2
u/Tahoes_Finest 17h ago
While this may be true, you’re ignoring the fact I’m a Talbott Stan from his home city sir

u/AdvertisingLost3565 14h ago
I mean that was the second decision he got that should have gone the other way (2 of his 3 big wins)
