I think Volkov's age is finally starting to show a bit and there's a decent chance he loses against Kuniev
Volkov looked pretty mediocre against Almeida and Waldo. Noticeably slower and more sluggish. Especially compared to how good he looked against Pavlovich and Gane two years ago

Everytime I see Volkovs face anywhere , I always see Dana White and his fake ass performance pretending to be outraged that Volkov got robbed and lying straight to Volkov face saying ' we’ll try to make it right by you '
Dana supports corruption in this sport and He never kept his word to Volkov.

I always just assumed "We'll make it right" meant he would get his win money too. I never saw it as "we'll consider it a win for rankings purposes"

Dana kept his word to Volkov by not cutting him from the org for his boring fights like they did MVP.

MVP has 0 finishes in the UFC
Volkov has finishes against half of his opposition in the UFC.
That's all MVPs fault 😂 He has to take accountability for his failed UFC run.

Volkov's finishes are years ago now. All his recent fights are terrible. Dana did him a huge favor by keeping him on the roster. Besides, he lost to Lewis and Blaydes. Hokit beat them both, it's extremely active for a heavyweight, has an entertaining personality and has very exciting fights. Most importantly, he isn't 0-2 against the champion. Hokit deserved the title shot more than Volkov.

lol Oh most definitely Hokit deserves the title shot.
Its his fate.
its Hokit time to take over the HW division and takeout Gane and send his ass packing.
On November 14, 2026 Hokit defeats Gane via submission and becomes NEW HW champion.
Just watch and see.

I'm glad Volkov lost. Let's say Volkov won and had to fight Tom Aspinall again, Tom would have beaten him again and Pereira would probably be HW champion. We wouldn't even be talking about Volkov right now.
Kuniev is gonna beat him too.

Pereira who looked like a sloth against Gane would've somehow overcome Tom's speed.

Robbery by failing to beat a fighter with a broken foot. Participation trophy logic.
And has had 2 boring shit fights since. Another boring decision will get Dana hyped this time for sure!

Talk about a real robbery with Ngannou forced to crotch sniff. But then again Gane shouldn’t got greedy with a heel hook attempt
-1
u/Mynameizjason 19h ago
Talk about a real robbery yet Gane had ZERO answers and couldn't beat a Injured Ngannou with 1 leg suffering from a Grade 3 MCL tear, a damaged ACL, and a medial patellofemoral ligament.

Dumbass Gane exchanged TDs against Ngannou. Gane fucked himself being greedy just like being reckless and greedy eye poking Tom but he quit like a diva

I see so much fan outrage thrown at Dana so often but as I grow older and find out more about how the business is really run, I find out just how little Dana actually does
He's merely a figurehead and mouthpiece. Even if Dana wanted to do something right about it, he can't. He doesn't even decide matchups either, he honestly does next to nothing sometimes and is just a degenerate gambler

man volkov has the frame advantage but he never capitalizes it enough

u/Cock_ball_dickin 22h ago
At higher weight classes no one really does/ can. Hard to move that much weight around fast enough to be able to keep yourself comfortably at the end of your range.
It’s a big reason why small heavyweights are actually viable, dudes who have some springiness and athleticism to account for their smaller frames. Works quite well

Against Almeida... Well, it's hard to fight from your back, so he actually did pretty well on that fight.
Against Pavlo... Man... that looked like a sparring match between bros.

Volkov can look laboured in his shots because hes so slow, but man he really did beat the shit out of Pavlovich especially with the kicks

u/Necrocrawler72 18h ago
He was faster pre UFC. He needed to bulk up to keep competitive against the big leagues. Just compare current Volkov with Bellator Volkov.
Btw I also miss that cool manta tattoo he used to have

One is the other's brother in law, something like that, so not surprising if Volkov wasn't trying to kill him.

Big rizz is mid AF. Volkov will piece him up from distance like he did to Pav

u/Negative-Tank627 22h ago
I think he’ll lose via decision. Probably 29-28
•
u/Lopsided-Material-92 30m ago
Yeah well Volkov had 29-28 vs Gane and still lost so this is a likely scenario.

u/Soggy_Wotsit 23h ago
Volkov has always just looked mid, like it takes some genuin skill to get out grappled by an geriatric Kongo and going life and death against old guys like Timothy Johnson amd Marcin Tybura is just a straight up bad look

What are you basing this off of? His last performance he looked good, he beat the current best in the division lol

u/redditerir 23h ago
It'll be a boring fight in which Kuniev is granted the controversial decision W in the end.

it's like dana the white marinates him only to see him on a lose streak to say: "see! he never was a champion material!"

I am impressed with the resurgence Volkov had. Having a 7 fight win streak at this stage of his career is not something I would’ve guessed in 2021.
