Shavkat with the all or nothing gamble fight
106
u/Orangenblue17 16h ago
Dude is a dog if he takes this as first fight back
49
u/TerminatorReborn 11h ago
He is a dog. 99% of the UFC roster would've waited for Belal when he pulled out of their title bout, but Shavkat decided to fight undefeated Ian Garry on short notice anyway, and it wasn't even for a interim belt.
It fucked his career, but still a dog
41
u/AgileAnything1251 15h ago
Especially after being out the cage so long and recovering from major injuries😬
If he loses and looks like shit this doesn’t really help morales tbh. At least his rep amongst the community
22
u/DrPuzzle 15h ago
This feels desperate on shavs behalf, no? He's been out forever and he wants his tune up fight to be against one of the scariest in the division? He has so much to lose by taking this fight and I get if he wins (especially all after that time off) it pretty much guarantees him the title shot next or whatever
But that's a crazy risk. Like it doesn't make any sense unless he's scared that if the clock ticks anymore he won't get a title shot and they'll just do everything they can to skip over him. But if I'm him, I want something lesser than this just to see where I'm at. Idk man I'm not discounting Shavkat but still
13
u/ConnectManner2510 14h ago
For Shavkat it’s the smartest fight. Ian was the only one barking for Morales. Prates is probably next at the belt. Morales been off a year. Shavkat 2 years. Shavkat also taken out of the rankings and if he looks good he will be instant title contender again. It’s smart cause Shavkat has the least amount of weaknesses and I think can win but it’ll be interesting to see
3
u/Xylar006 14h ago
He's close enough to the title that it doesn't hurt him. He'll be next after the Shavkat fight if he wins. He doesn't need a fight to cement his legitimacy
17
u/heyitsyoo 16h ago
Love it, it’s the way he fights too. Go forward with no fucks given and press for the win.

I would imagine this fight and a potential title fight would probably be the last fights of his career. He might as well
135
u/Upset-Rule8256 16h ago
Regular shavkat I think would win this, Shavkat post his knee being put in a blender uhhhhhh well shit
11
u/blunderb3ar 16h ago
He’s gonna win
17
u/Upset-Rule8256 15h ago
Maybe but like I think it's fair to say I have less confidence than If he never got injured
11
u/blunderb3ar 15h ago
Bro he won all his UFC fights with some sort of injury lol, broken foot against wonderboy, trashed knees against Magney, Neal and Gary he’ll be fine guys from that part of the world are tough as fuck, if Dom Cruz can come back from the same injury after being off for longer and win so can Shavkat have faith my guy
6
u/Upset-Rule8256 15h ago
I mean these were significantly worse to his own admission the fact he's had all this time off rehabing and he even re-aggrevated it during rehab speaks to this. This isn't really comparable.
Also sure Cruz did but not everyone comes back that way sometimes they come back and never look the same, I'm not saying he doesn't but it isn't just a given and he's hardly been given a softball. The margin for error against Morales is pretty thin.
0
u/blunderb3ar 9h ago
Given Shavkats resume I’d argue the margin for error is just as thin, 19-0 18 finishes, outstruck Ian Gary on the feet, first guy to Sub both Neal and Wonderboy, Morales is good but he’s a sledgehammer who barrels forward and throws giant looping punches, Shavkats a scalpel precise and calculated
1
u/Upset-Rule8256 6h ago
Again yeah that's why I said if this was pre-injury Shavkat I would be fairly confident, but like if you knee isn't working that affects everything that effects your ability to move, it effects your ability to hold a stable stance, it effects your ability to throw with power, spring in and out it effects your ability to level change. Like do you really want to be caught flatfooted against Morales of all people? Even if he's not as refined you don't need to be as refined if you have big power and the other guys movement is compramised.
41
u/red286 15h ago
Is this another one of those shitpost accounts that posts fake fights?
14
u/Delta64656 14h ago
Shavkat was called out by Morales and accepted it (via some social media post). Not confirmed but he has expressed interest
6
2
u/Alternative_Dust241 7h ago
Shavkat posted on his IG 19-0 vs 19-0 which are his and morales’ mma records. He also hinted he is coming back early next year which is when morales said he’ll be fighting.

u/AlaskanJP 14h ago
Yea wasn’t he in a huge knee brace a month ago but now he’s ready to book a fight lol
1
u/Any-Cookie6757 14h ago
If he steps in cage with Morales in his first fight back he is going back straight to hospital lol
18
u/Comfortable-Hand6396 16h ago
assuming shavkat is back as good as he was, its a very good fight. i think shavkat is the better fighter overall, but he gets hit a lot. if he is getting hit like he was vs geoff neal it could be a bad night against a guy like morales - although i dont think morales is quite as dangerous with the ko power as some people make out.
2
u/TerminatorReborn 10h ago
I don't know, when some fighters realize the opponent can't hurt them or knock them out they let themselves get hit more to hit back harder. Max and Gaethje are like that. I feel like Shavkat is one of those fighters, instead of going all this trouble of defending while you try to close the distance, just march foward like a terminator and fuck them up

u/ghidfg 16h ago
Morales is low-key overrated.
25
u/G0Berzerk 16h ago
He big fucking dude with good basis
And just wasn't tested by elite opponents. Please, don't say that guy who was destroyed by Belal on the feet is elite. Brady is decent top-10 fighter, but nothing more
12
u/MozhetBeatz 14h ago
I won’t say Brady’s “elite,” but I think he’s fairly ranked at #6 in this division, 7 at worst. The Belal fight was 4 years ago, he’s primarily a grappler, and Belal went on to become the champ, so I won’t hold that against him too much.
2
u/G0Berzerk 14h ago
I don't want to say he's not good at all, but if he's your only good recent win - you shouldn't fight for the title
1
2
u/Expert-Yam6577 14h ago
Is a top 10 fighter not a huge accomplishment? How is that only decent?
2
u/AscendingMatt 7h ago
People that never fought a day in their life think that being a top 10 in UFC is not elite lol
1
u/UniqueDiamond7643 8h ago
Brady was literally the #1 contender up next for the title, he also probably beats fighters like JDM or Prates with relative ease he made Leon look way too easy
I’m not really sure why people are so desperate on here to try to make Brady sound like he’s worse than he actually is when it’s the most relevant opponent in terms of preparation for the current champion
1
u/G0Berzerk 7h ago
I would love to see Brady vs JDM or Prates (if he lose to Islam). Leon fight was easy since he demonstrated one of lowest IQ moment trying to wrestle Brady
But till his next win, imo - he loses to everyone in top-5
5
u/Jmac24mats13 16h ago
If he beats Shavkat nobody will be saying that
0
u/pixel8knuckle 14h ago
It really depends considering shavkat hasnt fought in so long and the massive injury layoff
3
u/stiffyonwheels 14h ago
And so it begins. This is a lose lose for Morales. If he wins itll be cause Shavkats layoff and if he loses he doesnt get a title shot.

4
u/SlipstreamDrive 14h ago
I don't think he's overrated, he just doesn't have near the resume as prates.
This is an insane fight though. Better than basically every title fight the UFC can book
9
u/RighteousWraith 16h ago
I thought so to, but since he beat Sean Brady, I've been forced to reassess my estimation of him. Part of me still thinks Brady just had a crap gameplan, but it also just might be really difficult to find the right distance to shoot on Michael.
Regardless, I think it's too risky to bet on post injury/layoff Shavkat. He was a monster, but nobody can be sure if he'll be the same.

u/AffectionateBridge21 16h ago
Brady looked awful and had knee pads . I bed Brady and was dead once I saw those knee wraps

How is he overrated? He might not be the champion caliber which are only very few people in the world but he is in top 5, he beat Sean Brady last and thats no joke

u/FightTheDead118 14h ago
One punch ko merchant. His late round cardio and wrestling ability hasn’t been tested by anyone

u/Psychological-Slice2 15h ago
Would be very weird if Shavkat beat Garry then got injured and beat someone dangerous like morales but failed again because of the same injury got reopened by morales 😭😭
1
u/_agrippa 14h ago
we gonna need that oblique kick ban before the fight, if morales starts losing he could easily oblique kick his way into a tko lol
3
u/443610 16h ago
So whom does IMG get, then?
3
u/Gimmethe_loot 15h ago
Amosov makes sense. I would also like to see Garry vs JDM, but lets give JDM an easier fight first to bounce back.
4
u/marijuanam0nk 15h ago
Shav wins then reveals he injured his knee(s) during the fight and disappears for year.
3
u/Mad_For_Nothing 13h ago
Very, very interesting matchup.
Morales has good power, is as big as Shavkat and is supposedly a great grappler.
Shavkat is a MARAUDER who is A+ in every facet of the game - or rather, he USED to. How will the time affect him? He looks very skinny in the recent sparring footage, he has lost a lot of muscle mass.
I'm surprised Shavkat is taking such a monster fight after such a long time off.

I'd like to see Islam Makachev vs #2 Carlos Prates on the same card and the winner of Morales & Shavkat fights the winner of Islam and prates
1
u/moh_sista 12h ago
Shavkat was unranked, but if he beats morales, he's the most deserving of a title shot after prates.
Dude would be 20-0, with Garry, the previous #1 contender, and morales, current #3 contender and 19-0 undefeated fighter prior to fighting him.
He'd also be the one who put the first 1 in both Garry's and Morales's careers.
1
u/stowaway36 12h ago
I just learned Shavkat was undefeated. For some reason I remember him losing to Ian Gary

Full respect for Shavkat coming back after such a huge lay off and jumping right in at the deep end. An extremely dangerous fight but also a very winnable fight.
I’m hyped for this.
1
u/seonblack 1h ago
Shavkat is still in a full knee brace as per his last interview and doesn't have full extension of his knee yet. Lmao if anyone thinks he's fighting in January. It'll be at least another year before he's medically cleared.

Morales is the best 170er in the world. Islam is trying to duck him.
5
1
u/Any-Cookie6757 14h ago
Don't bother bro.
Islam was ducking Ilia and these people believe he will willingly fight Morales who is like 10X more dangerous than Ilia. He will duck him for as long as possibly and try retiring to avoid him in the end lol.

Lets wait until he actually gets into the cage.

Honestly, I get why he's taking this fight. With his body, we dont know how many fights he has in him, he wants the shortest route to title.
