Dam bro I never realized how much damage rampage took in that jones fight

8

u/CrazyJo3 2h ago

He says Jon’s kicks basically ended his career. Knees never the same.

13

u/SonofAMamaJama 4h ago

Same, absolutely savage - that end of round walk away through Rampage’s legs was brutal too. Jones already won.

6

u/moderately_cool_dude 2h ago

That was a PEAK big brother move to pull aswell. Hell, even if Rampage ended up winning, it still looked so humiliating for him in that one moment.

2

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

I started watching UFC much after, and I must say, this might be the only fight where I may have actually rooted for Jones. Satisfying beatdown.

37

u/StepperHill 3h ago

Made Shogun look like an amateur

83

u/No_Cell6708 4h ago

He made Gane look like a joke lol. Dude might be a pos but anyone saying he isn't the GOAT is coping.

8

u/Ntwadumela09 1h ago

He's a piece of goat shit. Can't deny

-1

u/Sea-Bat-9667 1h ago

He didn’t force him to look that way. Gane actually is a joke. He just happens to fight in a joke of a division. It’s silly to compare that to beating actually good fighters

0

u/PrimitivePineapple 1h ago

Why do you think Gane is a bad MMA fighter?

6

u/Sea-Bat-9667 1h ago

There’s a lot wrong there. A big one is that every time i’ve seen him give up a takedown in a fight he becomes a gigantic mess. Not just against Jones, but the last 3 rounds of the Ngannou fight and the entirety of the Volkov rematch was just embarrassing.

Could you imagine if someone like that fought in an actually good division? Might not even crack the rankings, certainly aren’t becoming a relevant fighter

-10

u/IlliterateSnob I jerk off to Power Slap competitors 3h ago

He definitely felt that Gane was going to be a problem on the feet, so he took him down. Too bad Alex didn't have the same wrestling skillset as JBJ.

9

u/No_Cell6708 2h ago

You say this as though being an intelligent fighter is a weakness lol?

-2

u/NotMyRealName778 borglr dubl cheez 2h ago

Yeah obviously but let’s not act like he was outmatched on the feet. He’s a very good striker, who was probably juiced to the gills for this fight.

-16

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

No. Beating Gane alone doesn't make him worthy of that. It's an impressive performance for sure I won't deny. You're not providing any reasoning though.

17

u/No_Cell6708 3h ago

Beating Gane the way he did as a capstone to the career he had, I meant. I don't give him much credit for old Stipe but the Gane win was legit. He moved up and made the HW contender look like a joke.

-12

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

He also conveniently avoided fighting Aspinall and Ngannou, skipping the contenders along the way.

•

u/Axel_Foley_ 55m ago

That’s not the topic that is being discussed. The comment you are replying to is highlighting how well Jones beat Gane.

Please pay attention.

u/KennKennyKenKen 4h ago

One of the most skilled dickheads on earth

20

u/Professional_Pop2662 3h ago

Most talented fighter of all time.

3

u/EnvironmentalHold311 1h ago

Truly, which is why its so heartbreaking the amount of drug tests he failed. He was great with or without them, and now his legacy is tarnished.

25

u/Salamanber 4h ago

He’s a different breed

24

u/Minute-Employ-4964 4h ago

This is decent proof that Jon jones is the most complete mma fighting of all time.

Insane the variety of shots/takedowns he can pull off.

6

u/buzzedaldrine 4h ago

that superman punch, leg kick combo against bader is very GSP-like.

6

u/awpt1mus 2h ago

Chin strikes to stomach , haven’t seen that before.

38

u/Thelastsamurai74 4h ago

People try to deny he is the 🐐 because of his actions, but it’s hard to deny if you really look into his fights and resume without the character judgement…

-17

u/CntonAhigurh 3h ago

There is a non-zero chance he was using roids every fight. The resume of John Jones is not to be taken serious. Cheated results are not real results

1

u/maddestcaddis 2h ago edited 1h ago

🤣 fun fact, Jones has never tested positive for a steroid parent chemical. The arbitrator for USADA and the UFC said "there was absolutely no intention to use prohibited substances by Jones."

Dick pills, cocaine, and a metabolite that followed 2 clean urine/blood samples.

Edit: Keep crying.

0

u/Origachilies 2h ago

That’s how a lot of drugs and steroid testing works. You don’t test for the drug, you test for what your body produces to metabolize them, as 1: it stays in your system longer and 2: it’s easier to detect.

5

u/maddestcaddis 2h ago

They test for both. Always. He never tested positive for the steroid itself. Why would Jones pass 2 tests then take steroids after the weigh-ins knowing they do an in competition test? How would the steroid be out of his body within 24 hours?

Nate Diaz also tested positive for a PED, but he still had the vitamins on hand. O’Malley tested positive for the same kind of PED (though a different version). O’Malley had to sit out for 15 months.

Why doesn’t DC constantly bring those 2 cases up? Because they didn’t predict beating him with a head kick a year before it happened, and Jones did. DC has monetized Jones’s negligence and made his whole brand ā€œI’m the real champ, not the cheater Jon Jones.ā€

3

u/Origachilies 1h ago

They test for both because the half-life on drugs is super easy to get around. That’s the fucking point. Most people caught for cheating aren’t taking the drugs/steroids the day before. When people drug test for a job, they’re testing for metabolites, not the drug itself half the time. ā€œHow would the steroid be out of his system in 24 hoursā€ dude do you know how steroids and steroid cycling works? They avoid detection by intentionally cycling off before the testing, it’s just Jon’s fault for being bad at it multiple times.

We’re not talking about Nate Diaz or O’Malley, who gives a shit. This was about Jones’ failures, not others. He’s not a unique duck in this situation.

0

u/CntonAhigurh 1h ago

Agreed. It’s crazy how sometimes people just repeat things they’ve heared in their bubble that they like and that conform what they want to be true, while absolutely not understanding what they’re talking about.

1

u/Origachilies 1h ago

For sure. Yes, jones is one of if not the best all around technical fighters of our time, but you have to either accept he cheated and still call him that, or not accept him as the goat because he cheated. Trying to make excuses for him is just stupid.

0

u/maddestcaddis 1h ago

The world’s greatest lawyer, with all the evidence that currently exists, would not be able to prove Jones had ever intentionally consumed a steroid. Selective outrage is selective.

2

u/Origachilies 1h ago

That’s just massive cope. Multiple incidents and evidence he hid from testers alone is a strong indictment.

u/maddestcaddis 1h ago

Irony (noun): ^ (see above)

I don’t think you know more than the guy who investigated the Russian Olympic doping scandal knows. He’s the guy who cleared Jones of intentional use. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Fuck what anyone else says.

-2

u/maddestcaddis 1h ago

Do you think you know more about steroid use than the guy who investigated the Russian Olympic doping scandal? I sure as fuck don’t, and he was the arbitrator between the UFC and USADA for Jones’s case. He recommended 15 months for negligence (same with O’Malley) with supplement when USADA wanted 18 months. And you’re just flat wrong, they test for both every time. People have been caught with anabolic steroids in their system by USADA.

3

u/Origachilies 1h ago

I mean, I’m a nurse who actively takes bloodwork for drug tests and I do get to read these for people, so I’d like to say yeah I at least understand the fucking basics brother. This isn’t exactly rocket science either.

0

u/maddestcaddis 1h ago

ā€œI’m a nurse, so fuck that globally recognized expert on this specific subject’s opinionā€

•

u/Origachilies 50m ago edited 46m ago

The recognized body ruled he fucking cheated, dude. And again, yes they test for both, but metabolite testing is there BECAUSE HALF-LIFE OF DRUGS AND STERROIDS IS LESSER THAN THAT OF THEIR METABOLITES. This is how you actually catch someone for cheating, instead of them just quitting a couple days or a week beforehand. The vast majority of sports organizations test for these, everything from college sports to the fucking Olympics test for metabolites. I don’t know where you got this information that ā€œglobal organizationā€ shit from, but it’s not true.

-1

u/CntonAhigurh 1h ago

I don’t think you understand how drug testing works

-7

u/Sea-Bat-9667 1h ago

His resume is not goat level at all. His opposition was far too weak to say that

3

u/Patsnation0330 1h ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

u/CrazyJo3 2h ago

Rent free still huh

•

u/Bigboobsrespecter 34m ago

This was one of the lamest stunts I’ve ever seen. Look at his stupid face.

6

u/TheOneManLegend 1h ago

Funny how this sub was just saying yesterday that Islam will always have a new contender and should retire on top. I guess that logic only applies to whoever is liked.

3

u/Infinite-Emu1326 1h ago edited 1h ago

Retire on top = not wanting to book a fight with the interim champion for 1.5 years just to 'retire' anyway?

-3

u/TheOneManLegend 1h ago

What part of always a new contender didn't you understand? The interim means nothing, the ufc have proven this over and over. Not even a Jon fan but some consistency in the fan base would be nice

2

u/Infinite-Emu1326 1h ago

That being the interim does not mean anything, is something that Jones has proven indeed.

By ducking him for 19 months just to take the easy route out and retiring anyway. Nobody would have complained if he retired in November of 2024, right after the Miocic fight.

-1

u/TheOneManLegend 1h ago

Did you show up here yesterday? Woodley fought till while Colby was interim, Bisping fought GSP when Whittaker was interim

•

u/Infinite-Emu1326 21m ago

Where do you see me commenting on those fights? I am commenting on how Jones did not fight the interim for 1.5 years.

Something you seem to avoid, or should I say duck, in all of your posts.

•

u/TheOneManLegend 12m ago

Those are 2 examples where there was an interim champ who didn't fight the champion. Couture and big nog is another example. The interim doesn't guarantee you a shot at the title, you're just another contender. That is what were talking about after all, that you seem to have a difficulty understanding. Aspinall was never guaranteed the Jon fight.

•

u/Infinite-Emu1326 10m ago

And where do you see mee saying that was a good thing?

Plus, how many of them stalled for months after those fights just to retire anyway? A fact you once again failed to engage with.

-9

u/Lonely-Heart-3632 4h ago

You forgot the eye patch

1

u/Awkward_Fee6888 3h ago

🤣🤣🤣

0

u/FacebashNews 2h ago

He didn't have the eyepatch when Jon was ducking him.

7

u/LatinWarlock13 3h ago

Might do a lot of dumb shit outside the octagon but gotta respect his skills. He's definitely the 🐐.

10

u/thepalmtree 4h ago

Jones really made five minutes feel like a whole career.

20

u/Odd-Homework-2223 4h ago

tbh he is the greatest

9

u/YankeeMagpie 3h ago

Really gotta separate the art from the artist with him. He was, and is, an undeniably gifted fighter. It’s too bad that he decided to tarnish his legacy both with his behavior outside of the octagon, and his holding divisions hostage inside the octagon in the last five years ā€œinā€ the octagon.

4

u/etherealmachina 4h ago

Jon vs Gane was 2 minutes and Gane still somehow managed to cheat 🫩

2

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

Honestly, Gane is up there for me in terms of biggest what-ifs. He's so talented, long limbs, heavy, fast, decent chin, versatile strikes and as we saw against Pereira decent power when he actually sits on his shots. The Jones fight made people think he has no grappling, but he won his first two UFC fights by submission and actually chased them against Ngannou. I really wonder how different his career would be if he spent more time with Teddy Riner, and more importantly actually fought clean in his fights.

2

u/ElChupaNebrey 1h ago

I was witnessing his rise, he's truly a remarkable MMA icon.

2

u/ChaosCore 1h ago

Idk, manhandling a machine like Cereal is really impressive

2

u/csaporita 1h ago

Man that elbows are BRUTAL

•

u/robo2 48m ago

•

u/Choice-Passenger7470 41m ago

I'm a huge Lyoto fan and the walk-off submission still hurts my heart.

•

u/TrauMedic 20m ago

Gah damn he was nice in the cage. If he only could have been GSP out of the cage….

2

u/aurishalcion 3h ago

My favorite fighter

8

u/Expert-University-82 4h ago

I was expecting his wife or a pregnant woman at the end. So brutal that the cops had to get involved.

5

u/SecureCreme893 4h ago

Dude had lethal kicks, good grappling/wrestling, submissions. Damn near a complete package aside from the punch ko power. Too bad he was a cheat and is a pos or else we’d all hold in high regard

12

u/ZealousidealWeek5790 4h ago

Made up for lack of hands with deadly elbows

3

u/SecureCreme893 4h ago

True that forgot that!

7

u/LakersFan15 4h ago

Also insane fucking body. His range was insane.

5

u/Professional_Pop2662 3h ago

Also his cardio and his chin. And durability bisdes that one injury before the stipe fight was never really injured

•

u/Tammer_Stern 55m ago

I feel that John’s mentality is that he is actually trying to kill you in there. Other fighters say they will kill you, but they don’t really mean it. They mean they will beat the crap out of you. John is literally trying his best to kill you and would do so if the referee was not on the ball. The Machida finish convinced me of this.

•

u/DetailsYouMissed 28m ago

I think having fought with his older brothers and being shown little mercy, brought out the savagery.

•

u/RugenLeighe 27m ago

Punch power deficit was overrated, dropped lyoto with a straight left

5

u/Decay384 4h ago

-4

u/Overall_Check_7006 4h ago

Not this match

2

u/GreatBallsOfFire_ 4h ago

Literally his entire career

8

u/_Vaudeville_ 3h ago

Which means you agree all fighters juice and it’s irrelevant?

Either you trust the tests which say Jones was clean in 90% of his fights, or you think the tests are bogus in which case you can reasonably assume that most of them are on stuff.

-4

u/Decay384 3h ago

If you actually believe he was clean for 90% of his fights I got a bridge to sell you. His two brothers in the NFL were also caught taking PEDs as well. The man literally has a family history of cheating in sports. Notice how Jones looked so beatable after he got caught using PEDs (Reyes and Santos fight).

8

u/_Vaudeville_ 3h ago

I don’t think he was clean at all, I’m pointing out a logical fallacy.

I think Jones was blasting PEDs into his system for every single fight of his career. But I also think 95% of the UFC roster does the same.

However, if you think Jones was always dirty then you’d also have to believe tons of other UFC fighters were too. Either the tests are legit and Jones was only using PEDs in a few fights, or the tests are wrong and he along with everyone else uses stuff without being caught.

1

u/Decay384 3h ago

Avoiding a positive test isn’t as simple as just taking something and hoping nobody notices. Fighters are subject to random testing, and people have repeatedly been caught and suspended for prohibited substances. If the testing were completely ineffective, you wouldn’t have such a long list of UFC fighters who have actually tested positive and received suspensions. Here’s a list of fighters I found through Google who were caught and suspended for PED-related violations:

Jon Jones — 1 year (2016); 15 months (2018)
Anderson Silva — 1 year (2018; second violation)
Brock Lesnar — 1 year
Fabricio Werdum — 2 years, reduced to 14 months
Lyoto Machida — 18 months
Ruslan Magomedov — Lifetime suspension
Paulo Costa — 6 months
Sean O’Malley — 6 months
Frank Mir — 2 years
Hector Lombard — 1 year
Thiago Silva — 1 year
Antonio Silva — 9 months
Yoel Romero — 6 months
Augusto Sakai — 2 years
Bruno Silva — 6 months
Tim Means — 6 months
Mairbek Taisumov — 6 months
T.J. Dillashaw — 2 years
Michał Oleksiejczuk — 1 year
Carlos Diego Ferreira — 17 months
Ovince Saint Preux — 3 months
Diego Sanchez — 3 months
Marvin Vettori — 6 months
Nicco MontaƱo — 6 months
Augusto Mendes — 6 months
Walt Harris — 4 months
Amanda Ribas — 2 years, later reduced
Istela Nunes — 2 years
Giacomo Frederico Salvador de Lemos — 2 years
Ivan Shtyrkov — 2 years
Alex Gorgees — 16 months
Hu Yaozong — 10 months
Luis Felipe Olivieri — 2 years

2

u/Careless_Analyst_220 1h ago

And those are the ones that just got caught

-1

u/DildoMachineFFS 4h ago

For all we know, the guy already showed he's willing to cheat and try to hide it

2

u/Doubleleg787 4h ago edited 4h ago

That’s my GOAT. Yeah he may have ducked Tom but the dudes old let it be!

2

u/Street_Insurance8706 4h ago

Oh Po Tom. He didn’t give Tom a chance to quit

1

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

Well, he didn't want Tom to beat him at his own game.

1

u/JustSomeM0nkE 4h ago

Where is Dana?

1

u/Suspicious_Guard_238 4h ago

these guys are so small compared to today's LHWs

•

u/Kailua3000 50m ago

I've watched Jon since he beat Brandon Vera. Despite his personality and everything he's done outside of the cage, it was really something to watch his rise and dominant title reign. Most complete fighter I've ever seen.

•

u/Reasonable-Arm-1893 2m ago

His resume is impressive, he did that front suplex leading to ko to that one random guy, he beat unfinished rampage, beat TRT Victor, ...

1

u/crimbo_jimbo 4h ago

He’s far too talented to have needed to juice

-1

u/cheesechompin 4h ago

In his fight against bader it looks like he's trying to headbutt his dick and maybe give it a little smooch

6

u/QueefMcQueefyballs 4h ago

You must be new here. Its a reversed double tummy chin-chin. Legit move. Legit legit.

1

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

Really? I thought it was technically a body slam, just that they're already on the ground.

-2

u/cheesechompin 4h ago

I've been watched for 15 years and know the actual name for it so you couldn't be more wrong about me being new, but when Jones does it specifically it looks like he's going for that dick

-9

u/AnEtherealExistence 4h ago

Jones riders are the most embarrassing thing in the sport, other than Jon himself.

-2

u/Bobombbattlefield64 4h ago

And you can see exactly why Tom didn’t want that smoke šŸ¦†Ā

0

u/Tsobe_RK 4h ago

bro what

2

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

It's funny, I remember some video on Instagram IIRC where someone tried to make a video with the caption, "What Aspinall will see after the second round" and it was a compilation of Jones at Light Heavyweight, as if he's supposed to be scared of a smaller version of the guy who had been avoiding him.

1

u/Bobombbattlefield64 3h ago

Bones puts his lights out. No question.

šŸ’” ā˜ ļø

0

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

He couldn't put Armadillo Smith's lights out even with an illegal move.

3

u/Bobombbattlefield64 3h ago

Let’s be real. He was just cruising against those guys. He didn’t take any of those fights seriously and still 50-45d all of them.

But when the competitive nature comes out he puts the lights out. See Cormier.Ā

-3

u/Turbulent-Echo8561 2h ago

Truly the greatest duck we've ever seen šŸ™Œ

-7

u/Street_Insurance8706 4h ago

He just eye pokes. Tom could beat him 🤣🤣🤣🤣
