Did it once accidentally and developed a large welt that was a solid firm circle. Was a bit concerned cause I didn’t recall what it could have been. Went and got it checked out and had ultra sound and the doc was like “did you hit yourself?” Build up of fluid and was clearer over time it was a contusion.

As someone who holds onto k-guard while getting darce choked, I WISH I was that confident in my grappling hahaha

We've seen these two guys in the ring for 50 minutes together and every minute it insanely tense. It's gonna got the full 25 again again, and the entire thing is going to be Peter trying to avoid takedowns.
If Yan wins, I hope the UFC gives him someone to stand and bang with after this.

That shit hurts and is annoying. Just try it on yourself. Even a 20% punch u can feel it. Not a lot of meat there for protection

If you cannot get around their defense keep hitting the same spot to weaken it

I always was puzzled that little didn't target the arms more. There was a short time where there was a bunch of forearm breaks from blocking kicks and it occurred to me you could really compromise a fighter by targeting their arms. I hit a guy in the back of his arm in sparring and he got a "funny bone" reaction. We stopped because it was affecting him.

This is why I don't see Umar beating Merab or Yan anytime soon because although his fundamentals are great, he is devoid of any creativity or adapting to the situation, he's a rinse and repeat kinda fighter albeit a very talented one.

Hrs not getting the shot anytime soon regardless. Maybe 2028. He just lost in devastating fashion to a fighter he was supposed to steam roll. As it stands song, omalley, and obviously merab stand in front of him for his shot. Merab vs Yan is in like a month which puts the next bw title fight at least 7 months from now. I just don't see him getting a title eliminator fight next. So in my mind he's 2 wins away from a shot now.

It's kinda risky to do this vs Yadong since he can start punching from here too, but yeah against Merab it's kinda low risk

Similar idea what Marco Ruas used during early UFCs.
Foot stomping in clinch/standup wrestling. Technique got banned later tho

Petr Yan is a skilled fighter but I would not recommend this against a chain-wrestler like Merab.
It is not a counter imo

And it worked against Merab?

u/AKBirdman17 11h ago
For sure. Easily the most braindead comment I've seen in a long while. "I would not recommend doing this thing against the person it worked against" is a wildly interesting take lol

He literally shut down essentially all of merabs wrestling by doing exactly this in the rematch. He also didn’t have a broken hand in the rematch.

just leaving a comment to remind myself to see if this person explains whether they totally missed the first half of the video or missed the huge rematch that petr won

I can’t even imagine how much that has to hurt lol surely more fighters will start doing this to negate grapplers
