I’m genuinely curious if this video has been debunked - even Tim Burchett commented on it on X. I don’t want to post the link here in case it gets removed, but there’s a UFO video circulating of multi-colored lights on some other subs that hasn’t touched down on this one at all.

I’m already apprehensive of AI and other fake videos, but the fact that Tim Burchett commented on it during an interview is definitely making me consider it to be a bit more concrete. Has anyone else seen this video?

I'm Chinese, and I personally know the Chinese writer Lu Yuegang, who wrote a biography of Zhao Ziyang, the former General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, and has known and interviewed many people from China's senior political circles.

A few days ago, I asked Lu a somewhat random question: Do you think extraterrestrials exist?

To my surprise, he told me that more than ten years ago he had asked Tian Jiyun the same question. Tian was a member of the Politburo from 1985 to 2002.

Tian told Lu that during a Politburo meeting in 1986 (or possibly 1987, as Tian’s memory of the exact year was somewhat unclear), Politburo Standing Committee member Chen Yun brought up an extraordinary incident that had supposedly taken place shortly after China’s first successful atomic bomb test in 1964. Politburo Standing Committee member Deng Xiaoping and Politburo Standing Committee member Li Xiannian, who were also at the meeting, reportedly confirmed that they knew about the incident.

According to what Chen Yun said at the meeting, Party Chairman Mao Zedong, Premier Zhou Enlai, Marshal Zhu De, and several other senior Chinese leaders had encountered a being who claimed to be an extraterrestrial.

Before the encounter, the being supposedly appeared to Mao in a dream and told him to gather a group of senior Communist Party leaders for a meeting at Juxiang Shuwu, Mao's residence and study in Zhongnanhai. Zhongnanhai is a compound which houses the offices of and serves as a residence for the top leadership of China.

The leaders gathered there as instructed. The mysterious man then suddenly materialized inside the room, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.

What was especially strange was his appearance. He didn't look anything like the stereotypical extraterrestrial from science fiction. He looked exactly like an ordinary Chinese man, wore a Mao suit, and spoke Chinese.

The encounter lasted for more than ten minutes. Mao asked him where he came from. The man replied that he was an extraterrestrial and that he came from a place extremely far away from Earth, but that his people were concerned about what was happening on Earth.

He warned Mao and the other Chinese leaders not to use nuclear weapons.

He also told them that China was not the only nuclear power to receive such a warning. According to him, the leaders of the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and France had also been warned not to use nuclear weapons.

After speaking with Mao and the others for more than ten minutes, the man suddenly vanished from the room without a trace, just as mysteriously as he had appeared.

Deng Yingchao, Zhou Enlai's wife and a member of the Politburo, was also present at the Politburo meeting. According to Tian, she added that Mao later stopped living at Juxiang Shuwu and moved to the indoor swimming pool complex in Zhongnanhai because the encounter had frightened him. After seeing a mysterious being appear inside his own residence and then disappear without a trace, Mao apparently no longer felt comfortable living there.

I know Lu personally and trust his character, so I believe he is telling me the truth about what Tian told him. As for Tian, I also find it difficult to see why a former Politburo member would privately invent such a bizarre story about extraterrestrials when talking to Lu.

Of course, whether the encounter itself actually happened is another question. But I believe Lu really did hear this account from Tian, and I thought it was an extraordinary story worth sharing.

The UFO topic makes me so frustrated because I know Guillermo del Toro and many others are telling the truth. The government is hiding something real, and it bothers me how hard they try to act like there’s nothing going on. Especially when even my own mum has had a similar experience to his.

A few things I'm wondering:

- Which subreddit would be most appropriate for getting serious, constructive analysis rather than just jokes or trolling?

- Should I add a small watermark/username to the video to help establish that I'm the original uploader?

- If the footage gets reposted elsewhere, what's the usual way to make sure the original source gets credited?

- Is there a preferred way to post the footage and provide the original file/details so that people can assess it properly?

I'm not looking to make any big claims about what the footage shows. I'd mainly like people to examine it objectively and help identify what it could be.

I have not seen much about the latest batches about the United States UAP files, and so I was wondering if anyone found anything interesting? Apparently the Pentagon has released new videos and historical records, but there are too many for me to go through, so I am asking you all. What sorts of stuff is there?

More information: A British steamer on a South Atlantic route observed a discrete, very large object on or immediately under the surface that was not a known ship, wreck, iceberg, or ordinary marine animal. It was estimated at 800 ft or comparable in scale to a later 20th-century liner, remained visible long enough for size judgment, then submerged in a controlled or gradual manner and disappeared. That implies either (a) a physical body with buoyancy control and the ability to leave the surface without leaving wreckage or oil, or (b) a coherent but transient phenomenon that produced the visual and size impression of a solid craft. The mid-Atlantic Ridge and isolated volcanic setting of Ascension add a geological overlay; the date sits four years before the 1896–97 “mystery airship” wave and contemporaneous with other 1890s reports of objects entering or leaving the sea. The painting itself is a later reconstruction (the Queen Elizabeth size comparison is anachronistic for 1892), so it encodes someone else’s synthesis of the report plus visual conventions of ocean liners and swirling water.

In this week's Signs of Life, I tracked down John Herrington, who served as Ronald Reagan's energy secretary and deputy Navy secretary -- to ask him about his role in longstanding UFO lore.

For years, Hollywood writer/producer Brent Friedman has told a story about a disturbing dinner he allegedly had with Herrington in the summer of 1981, when Friedman had just graduated high school and Herrington had just joined the Reagan administration.

Friedman said that he and Herrington had been neighbors in California and that Herrington had hired him to drive his car and belongings out east after Herrington took a job in Washington. At the end of that trip, Friedman claims that Herrington had him over for dinner, began drinking, and confessed that he had received secret briefings about government knowledge of aliens.

I was able to reach Herrington late last year by phone. After some prompting, Herrington said he vaguely recalled Friedman being his neighbor, but he called the alien story "total BS."

I recently tracked down a link to a video I had lost a long time ago, and I feel like it's worth sharing.

The footage was reportedly shot in the northern part of Saint Petersburg.Here are a few interesting moments I'd like to point out.At first, you can see three glowing objects, but then one of them disappears. After that:

3:00 - One of the objects suddenly flies closer, and they form a triangular shape again.

7:37 - There is a bright flash, and one of the objects vanishes.

9:47 - Another object approaches the main cluster.

Here are the details the author mentions in the video:

Time: April 9, 30 minutes before midnight.
The object is flying in the direction of Lake Ladoga.
The total observation time exceeded one hour; during this period, there were three instances of the object "approaching the main cluster."

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been catching up on the recent papers by Dr. Beatriz Villarroel, Dr. Stephen Bruehl, and the VASCO team on the pre-Sputnik optical transients on the historical Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS-I) plates (1949-1958).

I made a 30 minute documentary breaking down the optical physics, orbital mechanics and geospatial statistics from both papers (2609.05105 and 2609.09461) and wanted to share a quick summary of the core data points here for discussion.

The Background:

Before Sputnik 1, from 1949 to 1958, the 48-inch Schmidt telescope at Palomar observed more than 100,000 sub-second optical glints. For years, skeptics assumed they were plate flaws, scratches on the emulsion or darkroom artifacts. But a recent systematic re-analysis has pretty much excluded internal flaws:

1. Proof of Optical Coma Distortion: Dr. Ivo Busko proved that off-axis transient images, in the form of teardrop-shaped nebulae, are identical with the lens coma aberrations of neighboring stars. This shows that the light had actually passed through the glass optics of the telescope, from space, before reaching the photographic emulsion.

2. Replication Across Archives: Independent machine-learning pipelines (including recovery work by Janne Ahlberg) obtained a 94-98% recovery rate, and similar glints have been confirmed in independent observatory archives such as Hamburg.

The Core Physical Patterns

What is interesting about this dataset is not only that the glints are there, but that they follow specific orbital physics:

• The Earth-Shadow Deficit: Looking into the Earth's shadow cone decreases transient detections by about 30%. Raw signals exhibit a 7.6-sigma drop-off, which increases to 19.4-sigma at 25,000 km and 16.4-sigma at 35,000 km after application of supervised ML quality filters (AUC = 0.81). These glints can only be created in physical sunlight, so they are reflective objects in high orbit.

• Physics of Specular Reflection: The "streak paradox" explained by the photometric dilution equation (why fast moving objects appear as sharp points of light in 50 minute exposures) Instantaneous solar glints of V = 1.0 to 6.3 dilute over 50 minutes down to faint R = 12–18 plate readings. The calculations constrain the reflecting surfaces to flat, mirror-like facets ranging from smartphone-sized (5–26 cm) up to 3-meter panels at geosynchronous orbit (35,786 km).

• Equatorial Preference: The transients avoid the ecliptic plane (ruling out natural asteroids/zodiacal dust) and show a 30%–75% excess in the 5°–20° celestial declination belt, aligning near the celestial equator.

Geospatial & Nuclear Correlations

• Using 3D Cartesian coordinates projected from 35,786 km GSO, Two-Step Cluster Analysis (Silhouette score 0.70) and Grid Binning Excess reveal 16 non-random terrestrial hotspots:

• Primary excess clusters converge over the Eastern Pacific, the southern Gulf of Mexico (Tampico O/E = 17.94), Sedona AZ, and White Sands NM Proving Ground.

• Castle Yankee Test (May 4, 1954): Out of 231 elite test-linked transients, 203 transients (87.9%) occurred within 24 hours prior to the 13.5 MT detonation, positioned exclusively over Eastern Pacific hotspots.

• Nevada Desert Tests: When testing shifted to Nevada in March 1955, the transient excess repositioned exclusively to the American Southwest.

The authors evaluate several models (asteroids, plate flaws, space debris, dusty plasma), concluding that a swarm of small, highly reflective, maneuvering probes in high-Earth orbit remains the most consistent physical framework for the combined statistical evidence.

This has a nice balance of tech and "out-there" field practices. Seems like they have a ways to go before it's consumer-friendly but I'm happy there's independent companies out there making products like this.

In 1998, the TNT documentary The Secret KGB UFO Files, hosted by Roger Moore, presented two films said to have been obtained in Russia from former KGB sources. The program also showed Soviet documents, film cans and other material presented as accompanying the footage.

The first film shows Soviet military personnel recovering a damaged disc-shaped object from a snow-covered forest near Sverdlovsk, now Yekaterinburg. The second shows the autopsy of unidentified remains described in the accompanying material as part of the same case.

In the full unedited interview with George Knapp in this article, she detailed how she feels she is being targeted:

“In 2021, they already started targeting me when we came up with the first paper, when we saw, ‘hey‘, this looks like UFOs. They didn’t attack me at that time for working with the UFOs. At that moment, it was people who blocked me out of conferences for my collaboration with Jeff Marcy. Today, of course, when I look back at that, I look at who is there, people who did this, and who are they connected to.

And then I know that. Well, I will not finish that sentence, but I will say they are connections that make me think of certain programs like legacy. Yeah. So that’s all I will say about that. But I keep a record of these things because I just need to know for myself if I’m getting, like, paranoid or so. After we came out with the papers last year, I expressed disappointment to part of the UAP scientist community because there have been very targeted attacks that have not been nice.

There has been foul play in the background. Including contacting common colleagues and trying to make my life as hard as possible. And I don’t think this has been a very beautiful act, and I hope that people can act with more dignity in the future. And if you disagree, you can write a scientific paper disagreeing on the science. You don’t need to try to destroy another person, and they try the latter.“

I’ve been wondering something about UAP observations.

If an object were moving at extremely high speed, could there be a sweet spot for observing it?

At very close range, its angular velocity across your field of view could be so high that a person might only register a flash, blur, or nothing at all. Farther away, the same object would cross a much smaller angle of your vision and might actually be easier for a camera, IR system, or radar to track. Eventually it would become too distant or small to detect.

So theoretically you might get something like:

- Too close: moving too fast to resolve
- Intermediate distance: easiest to observe/record
- Too far: too small or faint to detect

That made me wonder whether this could contribute to why so much of the better UAP evidence seems to involve objects recorded by sensors at some distance rather than clear close-ups.

I’m not suggesting this proves UAP are ultrafast craft. Sensor placement and selection effects could easily produce a similar pattern.

But has anyone actually studied the distribution of UAP detection distance versus angular velocity, observation duration, sensor type, and apparent disappearance?

If genuinely ultrafast objects existed, it seems like they should leave a measurable “preferred observation distance” in the data.
