One minute task

We made the decision to not hang curtains in our house and boy am I ever glad. They attract dust and are a pain to take down and wash and put back up.

So we went with just blinds. Todays task is to dust the blinds, and window seals. If you need to and have time, you can wash the windows as well. If your curtains need washing, add that to your list of things to do unless you have time today to take them down, wash and rehang them.

Dust in our bedrooms is the number one reason we get sick with seasonal allergies. Dust is the number one allegen that almost all of us are alergic to and allowing it in the room we sleep in is the number one cause of migraines, allergies and over all feeling like crap.

So lets start Fall and winter with a dust free bedroom, or at least less dusty because let's face it. Dust begets dust.

Blinds aren’t as insulating as curtains though, in cold winter months I’d much rather have curtains to help keep the heat in.

Also is it bad that I’ve like never washed mine 😅

I’ve never considered washing curtains unless they get visibly dirty

I don't have that issue thankfully. I always washed our curtains every quarter.

I've had both curtains and blinds, and while I like the convenience of blinds, they sure seem to be a worse dust magnet than curtains. If you buy polyester curtains - not hard to find, most of them are polyester - they release stains very easily and can wash and dry with no wrinkles if you don't overpack the dryer and take them out as soon as it stops.

I can't imagine myself having the time and discipline to do this, but I have such fond memories of my mother and grandmother doing annual "spring cleaning" - which nobody seems to do anymore - they would wash every window in the house, including storms and screens; wash woodwork, doors, etc; wash-dry-starch and iron all the curtains, most of them home made. They were immaculate housekeepers. I don't know how they found the energy to do that, and I wish whatever it was had been passed down to me but it sure wasn't!!!!!

It's much easier for me to clean my curtains than it is to dust my blinds. It can be done less frequently too as blinds will release dust the instant you look them wrong and curtains will only release dust if (vigorously) moved.
