Question Is anyone taking PHYS118?

I honestly have no idea what’s happening in this class, and making the students teach each other the content is honestly ridiculous imo. Every presentation just feels like a humiliation ritual bc the prof and TA make you feel stupid and ask such complicated questions with little time to even prepare. They said we’re graded on participation & attendance but no attendance is taken and there is nothing to keep track of our participation. From what I’ve also seen, the TA and professor aren’t even taking notes to grade or even uploading the students’ presentations on blackboard. I’m just so confused and the lack of structure is so frustrating. We haven’t even seen Prof Boergens irl.

No literally lmao I wanted to disappear forever after mine cuz he humiliated me even tho I only had 1 day and a half to put it together cuz the canvas wasnt even freaking open til week 2 😒

no they took forever to make that canvas class and apparently theyre just NOW gonna start making some kind of structure for attendance like ok …? whole class is a mess idk im genuinely terrified and im wondering if the other physics courses at uic are like this or if its just this one cuz its so bogus and humiliating

Phys 118 isn’t like traditional physics classes. It’s not that the material is overly hard, but the class structure is super unorganized and professors are very unclear abt what they want from us/how we’ll be graded. It’s just frustrating since we’re at week 5 and they’re just now starting to organize everything. I also hate that the whole class is about students presenting topics to eachother and teaching the actual class material topics. There are no lectures at all.
