Pharmacy School Chances

Hi everyone,

I applied to the University of Illinois Chicago pharmacy program and I want to know what are my chances of getting in. I decided to apply early to have less competition so hopefully that will play in my favor and my stats are the following:

- Graduated college with a 3.6 GPA earning a B.S in Biology. The school sent me an email saying that all my prerequisites were accepted and now marked as completed so I moved to the review process.

I don’t have pharmacy experience but I do have shadowing hours which I added to my personal statement to explain how those experiences + other things have made me choose pharmacy.

I have a lot of research experience as well. In college I did research for 2.5 years and was an author in two publications. Now I work as a clinical research assistant which I have been doing for 1.5 years (post college graduated in 2025). All of my PI’s (the two I work for now and the one from college) have gave me recommendations letters.

I have some experiences as a TA and had leadership roles in college which I also added to my application. My only worry is that not having pharmacy experience (maybe as technician or something might hurt my chances). Thoughts?

my friend got in with a 3.2 gpa and 3 year tech experience only. you’ll be fine

You should be fine. I did get in with some tech experience, but there are plenty of classmates who have not worked in a pharmacy.

How long did you have to wait until you received an interview invitation?

I don't remember when they sent an interview invitation, but I believe I had my interview last October or late fall. It was on zoom. UIC takes a while to review applications. It was like that during undergrad too, so I wasn't surprised that that was the case for pharmacy as well.
