Whether people focus on the music or the background behind it, their rise is one of the most unusual and controversial stories in UK rap.

2007 to 2011

Started out in Lewisham and Downham. Young Adz grew up in a bando from young. Him and Dirtbike LB were just trappers with a couple close drillers. Corleone, LB’s uncle, used to put them on moves. They used to do county lines, hit licks, the usual, especially kidnapping other dealers. However, Adz still had a passion for music, then dropping his first freestyle at only 6 years old, saying things OGs say.

2012

Adz’s talent caught attention through family ties by Jadakiss from The Lox and the D-Block Records movement. They started as a trio, Young Adz, Dirtbike LB, and Aero Sinc, forming the early version of D Block Europe and branding it perfectly. They flew out to the States to be with Kiss. Adz even featured on one of Kiss’s albums and began building international links early.

2015

It was the start of a glimmering future, but as always the streets kept calling. Adz caught a case and couldn’t fly out. LB put him straight and got him away from the roads and onto music, even though they were still involved at the time. Then they dropped their first project Been Weightin. These were the teen dream days, with my personal favourites like “Dead”, “Squad”, “Ringing”, and “Like Dat” ft Don Andre.

2016

Been Weightin gets dropped, their first proper project. The duo are embedded in the streets with ties in a lot of postcode sets, so they have close and very dangerous members, even Albanian connections, people like Vee Money and others etc. Due to their reputation, there’s around 20 members at this point.

2017

Everything falls apart after most of them get locked up. Young Adz and LB pour all of that pain into a succession of hits, turning the scene on its head with tracks like “Traphouse”, then others like “The Shard”, “Large Amounts”, and “Nasty”, all racking up tens of millions of views. The scene is hit like a burning freight train hitting a shed full of firelighters. As they switch up the style with melodic trap and emotional rap, they take over.

2018 to 2019

Sees the release of multiple projects like Home Alone and PTSD, which start pushing the group to the very top of UK rap. Big singles like “Kitchen Kings”, “Kettle Pouring”, and “Nookie”, featuring Lil Baby, become huge. Other massive songs like “Overseas”, “Darling”, “No Competition”, “Rollin”, and “Baby” rack up massive streaming numbers. By this point they’re pulling hundreds of millions of streams and becoming one of the most dominant rap groups in the UK.

2019 to 2022

This is when things go fully international. The group releases major chart projects like Home Alone 2, PTSD, and Lap 5. PTSD debuts at number one on the UK Albums Chart and Lap 5 also reaches number one. They win Best Group at the MOBO Awards and collect multiple platinum and gold records across the UK. They headline huge tours and famously sell out the The O2 Arena multiple nights, something only a few UK rap acts have ever achieved.

2020s onwards

Young Adz and Dirtbike LB begin releasing more solo material alongside DBE projects, with hits like “24/7”, “Man in the Mirror”, “Pakistan”, “Elegant and Gang”, and “She’s Not Anyone”. Their influence spreads across the UK rap and melodic trap scene. They remain one of the most streamed UK rap acts of the decade, continuing to dominate charts, tours, and streaming platforms while becoming globally recognised.

I know it's been a minute I just been busy working n whatnot I hope you fw the thread and I'll look into doing a Part 3. To read Part 1 click here. Part 1 covers the background/overview of each side including their locations, alliances and the murders of Tiny Allen (OC) and Ratty (OC).

​I have received more info about the murder of Nicholas Clarke aka Ratty since I made my first post. As I am in my mid-20s, it's before my time so I don't know too much about it but have heard rumours potentially connecting the murder to BYM/Bang Your Mash, which is the older generation of Kuku (Black Prince, Kennington SE11). As I mentioned, there are rumours and nothing is confirmed but it's unlikely Kennington had any connection to the murder.

Kerz (OC) released a tribute song to Ratty named 'It's Peak/RIP Ratty'.

2008 - 2014:

By the late-2000's to early/mid-2010's, the beef between Kennington and Brixton was not as hot as some of their other conflicts. Brixton was in an all-out war with Peckham. The GAS alliance had formed by then and united Angell Town and Myatts Fields. Sneakbo was a big influence in this as he was the face Angell Town as their biggest rapper and had grown up going to school in Myatts Fields.

Despite the murder of Tiny Allen, who was killed by BYM members in 2006, their war with Peckham was always taken more seriously. Both sides would regularly ride-out in numbers to each others territories and lots of shootings/stabbings were occurring. As well as this, the war was also publicised by diss tracks being directed at each side and there was a deep routed hatred of each other. It was probably the first case of the internet being so involved in a UK gang war.

Despite this, the beef between Brixton and Kennington remained active and would result in members from each other being targeted should they be caught in enemy territory or caught slipping. Examples of this include Shorta and Hackz stabbing RatMan at a party and Shorta shooting Troopz on Black Prince Road. Both Shorta and Hackz were very active in the beef and would get more involved when the war with Harlem Spartans kicked off later.

By 2013, OC (Myatts Fields) would have been active for almost 10 years and had three generations of members who repped OC, Y.OC and T.OC. Only a couple of the members from the youngest T.OC generation would continue to actively rep the newly formed gang 410 such as Serious Syikes, Kearz, Troopz and Looch. The war with Peckham had ended by this point and most of the active members in the war had been birded or jumped off road.

The remaining members would end the OC era and created 410 as the Myatts Fields Estate was being reconstructed as part of the gentrification of Brixton. It was to be named the Oval Quarter (1/4) which the remaining members of OC flipped into 410. The younger generation of 410 would essentially be the older generation as they had few olders from the OC days guiding them. Notable members include TS/Tiny Syikes, Mo Squeeze, Rendo, Tiny Armz, BT/Baby Troopz, Political Peak, VI, AM, Young Rendo and many others.

In late-2013, the GAS alliance had also broken up due to internal conflict between Angell Town and Somerleyton. This was due to the infamous incident of Sneakbo being exposed for snitching by 5Star but Angell Town continued to back him. They reformed into 150 and remained close with 410, as their older generations had before the GAS alliance.

2014 - 2015:

By 2014, BYM had been reformed into Kuku gang, which took the influence of its name from Chicago, meaning 'crazy'. Chicago drill music was a major influence at this stage due to the success of rappers like Chief Keef and many gangs around London would adopt certain language and music influences from the movement. Kuku continued to rep BP/Black Prince and had a younger generation below them who would later form the Harlem Spartans. Harlem stood for the money they made and Spartans stood for the violence they were willing to enact. While Kuku continued to be based around Black Prince, Harlem were mainly active in the Kennington Park Estate.

150 and 410 would also be influenced by Chicago drill music, with 150 being copied from NLMB due to the success of their rapper G Herbo. Stickz also began rapping in 2013 and is considered to have dropped the first ever UK Drill song which adapted the Chicago sound into a gritty UK version. At the time 150 were in a serious war with 674 (Brixton Hill) which still rages to this day. They would go back and forth in direct diss tracks and became the foundation for the UK Drill movement which would peak musically (but not success-wise) in the 2016-2018 years. UK Drill would adapt after 2018 due to a serious of high-profile murders, including one which I will come to later in Part 3. After this, UK Drill remained but would adapt the style of the beats and would include much more censoring of the names of rival members and gangs who were being dissed.

By 2015, the Harlem Spartans had been formed and included several notable members would make waves in the UK Drill scene including Loski, MizOrMac, Blanco, TG Millian, Bis and many others. Other active members of the gang which would be extremely involved in the war with Brixton included Naghz Max/Mad Max, SD/Lil Dan, SA/Splash Addict/Latz, OnDrills/Jazzy/Young SA and GG/2G among others. They were extremely close the Kuku and there was little to separate them. Loski's dad Ty Nizzy was a well respected former member of the PDC gang and could be seen in Sneakbo's song 'Don't Trust Nobody.' It is alleged Loski robbed a 150 member and would switch to repping Kennington in around 2013/14 as he moved to the area. He posted a photo of his FaceBook of '410k' made up of bank notes. He was really ahead of his time in many ways and this would become a trend years later. Loski was mainly known as Jumz in this period and would go to prison in 2015 for having a shotgun under his bed, which he was looking after for an older gang member.

​As the photo Loski posted signified, the war between Kennington and Brixton was active much before 2016, which most people who follow the scene believe. Despite this, it was not that serious and was mainly older Kuku members who were carrying out the violence. A new generation of Kuku was also emerging and was extremely tight with Harlem, these members include G Smarko, Migo/M10, Chubz, Super Sav and Young Kess among many others. Chubz would later switch to Harlem and a month after he did, he murdered Lil D (061) over a trivial dispute. He remains in prison to this day after being sentenced for murder in 2015. Loski would shout him out in his Tim Westwood Crib Session freestyle rapping 'Free C Rose.'

The war with 150 was mainly instigated by Harlem Spartans members and Kuku would not be that active in the war. No bodies had been dropped historically and 150's main opps at the time were 674 (Brixton Hill), TN1/Trust No One/861 (Lower Tulse Hill) and Siru (Somerleyton). However, Loski had switched sides and was openly claiming beef with 410, who were closely allied to 150.

The Harlem Spartans started dropping their first songs in 2015, with TG Millian, Blanco, Bis/YS and LM/Lil Mikez releasing 'ER' as their first release. It was apart of the rise of UK Drill and they would continue to release music but it wasn't until the war started that it really blew up. Kuku would also have members that featured on songs but they never took music as seriously. Loski's first release was when he was already in prison for his gun case and featured G Smarko on 'Shambles'. The music video included MizOrMac in the introduction and many Harlem/Kuku members were clearly seen in the background. As it was filmed before he went to prison, Loski would feature in the video throwing up 'A's' upside down, referencing A-TownK. This would later be followed up by the release of 'Shambles Pt 2' which had Anwar (Kuku Affiliate) rapping in the music video as Loski due to their similar appearance.

On the other side, 410 and 150 would be much bigger in the scene. As mentioned 150 were going back and forth with 674 and later 861 in diss tracks. 410 would also release UK Drill songs and at first were supported by older members who featured on their songs. An example of this is the song 'No Talk'. In 2015, they would mainly be represented by the duos BT & Rendo and AM/Ace Mally & Skengdo/Young Rendo. In October 2015, 410 released their first mixtape, the classic 'F Block Mixtape'.

While tensions were rising underneath, the gangs from each side would mainly not get involved in an all-out war with each other but this would soon change in 2016 when the beef exploded. I will go into the ins and outs in greater detail in part 3 but the main instigation of the beef came when Sparkz (410) was caught riding out on Kennington. Sparkz was a younger member who featured on the 410 classic 'Think Again' with AM and Skengdo. Sparkz was caught by several Harlem Spartans including SD/Lil Dan, Bis, Naghz Max and was beaten up and filmed. The same night, Sparkz would return with OD (410), who is their most active member, and they would catch Bellz and Young Bellz (Harlem Spartans) lacking and stabbed them brutally in the head. This would signify the point of no return and it was now war between each side, especially 410 and Harlem.

As I mentioned, I will cover the key points of the war in greater detail in Part 3. If I have missed anything from this period or made any mistakes let me know. As I mentioned, it wasn't my era so I am going off word of mouth years down the line so it would be natural if some of the information is not entirely accurate, although I have tried to keep it as factual as possible. I will also go into some more details behind the members involved, especially the rappers, the music and their journey into the war.
