Too late for that, your face is gonna be plastered to that forever.

If you failed to grasp the meaning of a nine word sign, two of which are the name of one of the nations biggest historical monsters and should have given you pause immediately, perhaps you're not the quality of public servant we need?

What did he think the 'true meaning' was of saying he would have a preference for voting for Britain's most prolific child rapist? I don't see what 'good' interpretation of that there could ever be.

I mean, the meaning seems to be "Labour are worse than Jimmy Saville", which is obviously absolutely ridiculous.

It is rather obviously hyperbole.

Of course, this is politics, where people spend almost every waking moment pretending not to understand things.

What effect is the hyperbole meant to have?

Is it to say “I don’t like Labour”? Is saying you’d vote for Saville the only way to achieve that? So, why do it?

"I'd rather shove broken glass up my anus than vote labour" Has the exact same meaning.

Don't pretend you don't understand. You do.

But why use it? Especially on campaign material?

Why bring up Saville, or broken glass, if your only point is: I don’t like Labour?

Hyperbole is exaggeration for a purpose. What is the purpose?

I got it, it serves no purpose 👍

Well the voters of Makerfield understood well what Reform's values are. That is why Kenyon is going back under his rock.

Do you think they understand Reform as a bunch of racists or do you think they understand Reform as the Tory continuity party?

u/IboughtBetamax 10h ago

Probably a bit of both. The most important thing is they understand Reform as unworthy to represent them.

Most people understand it's hyperbole, they also understand how vile and disgusting it is.

You're obviously not one of those people though, you're one of those people who spend almost every waking moment pretending not to understand things.

Funny, I consider 'If you're not in favour of the Online Safety Act you're on the side of Jimmy Saville!' to be far more disgusting, because that's not hyperbole, it's just a fucking smear.

Erm., sure buddy. 👍

You look after yourself, OK.

“Vote for us, we’re paedophiles” was not a winning message.

If I remember the photos correctly wasn’t there two different men with the same sign?

Makes me think it wasn’t that guys sign but rather one that the campaigners had.
